Choosing your Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starter is a choice heavily influenced by the starter evolutions. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet presents players with three start Pokemon to choose from, as is tradition and written in law. Starter evolutions are also consistent, with each Pokemon growing into two new forms. Here is everything you need to know about the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starter evolutions.

Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Starter Evolutions: Fuecoco

Fuecoco is the fire-type starter Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet. Raising it to level 16 has it evolve into Crocalor, a bigger but still bipedal fiery croc. On top of Crocalor's head is a flaming construction that appears like a nest with a fire egg in the middle of it.

Then, once it reaches level 36, it evolves into its final form, Skeledirge. The final evolution takes more of a traditional crocodilian shape, a long body with a tail and all four feet on the floor. It is constantly spewing fire from its mouth, and the white pattern on its face forms more of a recognisable skull pattern.

What's more, upon becoming Skeledirge, the fire-type starter adds ghost as its secondary type. The combination of fire and ghost makes Skeledirge a particularly powerful Pokemon.

Quaxly is the water-type starter, a small blue duck with a bit of an obsession with its hair. From level 16 it can begin evolving into its second form, Quaxwell. This form is a slightly bigger form of the duck, with much more humanoid features. It has longer legs and the wings become more like arms.

At level 36 it evolves into its final evolution, Quaquaval. It gets much taller and its plumage becomes more elaborate. It is the Dancer Pokemon, hence the big and colourful design. The Pokemon is constantly dancing in battle, as it blends dancing into its fighting.

Quaquaval gains fighting as a secondary type, making it a water/fighting Pokemon. This dual typing makes the Pokemon much more useful in more situations, and strong against a lot of opponents.

Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Starter Evolutions: Sprigatito

Finally, Sprigatito is the grass starter Pokemon. The Grass Cat Pokemon, like its contemporaries, evolves at levels 16 and 36. At level 16, it can become Floragato. Floragato stands on two legs, gains a darker green fur, and seemingly wears a pink flower on its lapel.

Continuing levelling up at it will become Meowscarada, starting at level 36.

Meowscarada is very similar to Floragato, but bigger and it seems to have gained a mask and a cape. Fitting, as Meowscarada is the Magician Pokemon. Further, fittingly, Meowscarada also gains the dark type when it evolves. This makes Meowscarada a grass/dark-type Pokemon, greatly increasing its usefulness.

That is it for the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starter evolutions. For more on the game, check out our Pokemon Scarlet and Violet auto-battle guide.
