If you're playing Fortnite, you may have a challenge that tasks you to deal melee damage to opponents. There have been a handful of melee weapons throughout Fortnite's existence. However,  there is actually quite a bit to learn about the different melee weapons in Fortnite. So, here's all you need to know about melee damage in Fortnite and which weapons fall into the category.

Melee weapons in Fortnite aren't always the best way to take down enemies, but they can be used as a way to flex on opponents, provided you have the capabilities to avoid gunfire and beat someone down with a good old wham bam.

Most of the melee weapons fit into one category, though. The most basic form of Fortnite melee weapons are the Harvesting Tool variants.

There have been countless different pickaxe options that all do the same damage output, ever since the skinless character swung their axes at trees and walls to gather mats and loot chests.

In Fortnite, there is currently only one more weapon in the game that could fall under the melee category, and that's the recently added Shockwave Hammer which differs in stats from that of the pickaxes. Technically, the Shockwave Hammer isn't a melee weapon as it falls under the utility class due to its movement buffs.

Previous melee weapons that are now gone for good include lightsabers and other mythic blades.

Fortnite Melee Damage Stats

Over the years, mythic melee damages have varied, but the Harvesting Tool has always persisted as the same.

So, here's how much damage you can cause with Fortnite melee weapons:

Current Fortnite Melee Weapons:

  • Harvesting Tools
  • (Shockwave Hammer)
Weapon Damage To Players Damage To Structures
Harvesting Tools  20 50/75
(Shockwave Hammer)  75/125 400/600

Previous Fortnite Melee Weapons

Weapon Damage To Players Damage To Structures
Sideways Scythe 40/42/44/46 40/42/44/46
Infinity Blade 24/75 600
Lightsaber (Red, Blue, Green, Purple) 25/45/150 25/45/150
Darth Vader's Lightsaber 25/45/60/150 25/45/60/150
Kingsman 50/55/60/75/100 75/300/1,000
Wolverine's Claws 25/35 40/50
She-Hulk's Fists 40/45/100 80
Amban Sniper Rifle 110 45
Howler Claws 35 150
Thor's Stormbreaker 200/225 600
Flag 20 75
Basic Sword 20 10
Basic Hammer 25 40
Predator Claw (Unobtainable to players) 20/20/30 100/100/200

So, even though getting that final kill with a pickaxe is quite the flex, if you don't want to be chipping away 20 damage every swing, you might be better off with a shotgun or a mythic Fortnite melee weapon.
