FFXIV is arguably the hottest MMO on the market at the moment, and the release date of patch 6.2 is fast approaching. In between each major expansion, FFXIV drops a series of major updates, which include updates to the story, as well as adding in more content such as dungeons and raids. The next major update, update 6.2 Buried Memory, will be released later this month. Here are all the highlights of what’s to come on the FFXIV patch 6.2 release date.

FFXIV Patch 6.2: New Story, Dungeon and Trial

With Buried Memory, Final Fantasy XIV will be receiving new main scenario quests. This will lead up further into its story about the Void and will have the Warrior of Light explore with Vrta to find their lost sister. Buried Memory’s story will also include the newest dungeon The Fell Court of Troia, and a new trial that is yet to be revealed.

FFXIV Patch 6.2: Raid Series - Pandæmonium

Buried Memory also brings with it the latest series of raids in the form of Pandæmonium: Abyssos. This, raid series will most likely contain 4 boss fights, with a savage version coming out shortly after. This raid series will give new fancy drops in the form of armour and weapons and will challenge players looking for more difficult content.

FFXIV Patch 6.2: Island Sanctuaries

Another new feature coming with Buried Memory is Island Sanctuaries. These will be similar to player housing, being their own private island for them to customise to their will. This is a feature that players have been waiting on since the release of Endwalker, and like player housing, will be extremely popular and a great addition to the game.

FFXIV Patch 6.2: Tataru and Hildebrand Sidequests

Players will also be delighted to know that the Hildebrand and Tataru questlines will be receiving expansions too throughout patch 6.2. Tataru’s Grand Endeavor sidequest will continue with its story from patch 6.15. While Hildebrand’s will further progress into his ever-growing storyline when it releases in patch 6.25.

FFXIV Patch 6.2: Main Scenario Revisions and Improvements

The previous main scenario quests will be receiving some love in the form of revamps, as well as the introduction of Duty Support (AI assistance)  to several dungeons. Snowcloak, Keeper of the Lake, Sohm AI, The Aery and The Vault will all be receiving Duty Support allowing players to traverse without the need of other players. Alongside this, the trial Steps of Faith will be converted into a solo instanced scenario instead.

FFXIV Patch 6.2: Unreal Trial

Sephirot will be receiving an Unreal makeover in Patch 6.2. For those not in the know, Unreal trials are one of the most difficult pieces of content a player can take on within FFXIV. This trial will be accessible through Faux Hollows, which can be found in Idyllshire at level 80.

FFXIV Patch 6.2: Variant Dungeon

Variant Dungeons are a new form of dungeon dropping in Patch 6.25. These dungeons will be of variable difficulty, depending on the number of party members. Role restrictions will be removed for this content and job swapping will be allowed, making it more casual friendly. Variant Dungeons will also include branching based on the players' choices and players will have an NPC accompany them on their journey.

FFXIV Patch 6.2: Criterion Dungeon

Criterion Dungeons are difficult forms of content that will require four players. These dungeons are unlike Variant Dungeons and are made for players looking to challenge themselves with difficult content. Certain rules will be imposed upon players while travelling through a Criterion Dungeon, such as role requirements (1 tank, 1 healer, 2 DPS) and limited revives. Another Sil’dihn Subterrane will also release with a Savage version, which will only be for the toughest of adventurers.
