Is eFootball Cross Platform? Konami's Latest Game To Rival FIFA

With FIFA dominating the football gaming world with its interactive Ultimate Team and cohesive Pro Clubs game modes proving a popular choice, Konami has stunned the market by burying Pro Evolution Soccer in favour of a brand-new title called 'eFootball'.

The developers tried to wrestle with FIFA in recent years by gaining exclusivity to brands such as Juventus and Roma, forcing them to change names in the more popular game. 

However, their attempts have been unsuccessful, and with a rebrand to eFootball, Konami has made a range of changes, including a free to play model.

With FIFA being priced at roughly £60 for their annual release, Konami's free-to-play title will attract those who don't fancy splashing the cash. 

But, is eFootball cross-platform?

Taking to Twitter, the brand-new title has confirmed that a new engine will enhance the ways in which eFootball will be played cross-platform.

The developers revealed that PC (Steam and Windows 10), Xbox (Series X/S and One), and PlayStation (PS5 and PS4) will all be able to play together.

Konami also revealed that Android and iOS versions will soon become compatible, although it is unsure whether they will be cross-platform with PC and Console, or just a variety of smartphones.

All cross-platform playing on mobile will require an external controller, indicating that it's likely to be compatible with the console players.

eFootball is set to launch in "autumn", presumably not long after the start of the professional footballing calendar that commences in August.
