The Destiny 2 Dark Decider is an auto rifle from years ago that is making a triumphant return in Season of the Seraph. Destiny 2 often brings back older weapons and gear with a new twist, and this one is no exception. Dark Decider ties in quite well to the current season, as a Veist weapon, as they are quite prominent these days. Here is everything you need to know about the Destiny 2 Dark Decider auto rifle.

The Dark Decider is an Iron Banner weapon, meaning getting it is fairly straightforward but timing is crucial. Iron Banner weapons are awarded by completing Iron Banner matches, by some Iron Banner quests, and most frequently by opening rank-up packages given by Lord Saladin.

This means that if you want the Dark Decider, you will need to play some Iron Banner. Likely not a whole lot if you just want the weapon in your collection, but if you fancy one with a great perk roll, you will have to grind it out. There are some potentially great versions of this weapon, so you will need to decide for yourself just how much Iron Banner you want to play to get a hold of a good roll.

The best choices for perks for the Dark Decider depend on whether you want one for PvE or PvP. There are reasons why it is good for both modes, but they require different perks to really shine. In the first column, regardless of what you want to do with the gun, you want Arrowhead Brake. This is a rapid-fire frame auto rifle, so you need some recoil control. Then in the other columns, we have some choices.

In the second column, the overall best perk is Flared Magwell. This is especially good for PvP when paired with Iron Grip, but it is a good perk for any situation. Instead, you could go with Accurized Rounds to combat the relatively low range of the weapon. Otherwise, anything that makes you reload faster or puts more bullets in your gun is a good option.

The third column is a simple choice. For PvE, we want to get Subsistence, as it is the most suitable perk in that group. For PvP, Iron Grip as mentioned is a great option. You lose a lot of reload speed which is why we recommend Flared Magwell with this perk, but the gains in accuracy and stability are unmatched.

The fourth column is where things get interesting for PvE. For PvP, you have some good options like Rangefinder, but the job is done there. For PvE, there are two very fun perks you can get. Golden Tricorn increases the damage of the weapon after kills, and further grenade and melee kills increase that damage buff even more. That is a strong perk, but where the weapon can become a big part of your build is if you get one with Voltshot.

Dark Decider is an Arc weapon, and Voltshot is a perk that synergises with Arc builds. To use Voltshot, you need to get a kill and then reload the weapon. This charges the gun with Voltshot, meaning the bullets you fire will cause Jolt, the Arc status effect. Jolt is great for stunning enemies, it is also fantastic for clearing out groups of enemies.

Using a weapon with Voltshot in tandem with an Arc build that utilizes Jolt is a great way to maximise your effectiveness, making this weapon the ideal partner for any Arc-favouring Guardians.
