As part of Dead Space Chapter 3 'Course Correction' you'll be tasked with stabilising the engine, fuel lines and centrifuge. This Dead Space puzzle can be tricky at first with no tutorials, stick around and we'll show you how to get past it and progress further into the story.

  • If you're planning on playing the Dead Space remake on PS5, check out our guide to the included DualSense features here.

Dead Space Remake: Where Is The Centrifuge?

At this point in the game, you will have activated both fuel lines and will now be asked to get the centrifuge back online. The centrifuge is a core piece of machinery that balances the payload of the Ishimura whilst it harvests materials from orbiting planets.

To get to the centrifuge, ensure the quest is active in the mission menu. If it is, you can highlight where to go by pressing on the right bumper control (R1 if on PS5). This will create a temporary glowing line called the locator, which will point you in the correct direction.

The centrifuge is based on the engineering station, to get to the correct area you'll have to advance through the decontamination bay. From the main engineering control room (this is a central room with different doorways to engineering departments, it also has a shop and a save station) head to the cargo lift on the immediate left.

Once you've taken the lift down, navigate through to the large contamination chamber. Interact with the console here, this will summon a decontamination protocol. Kill the wave of enemies that spawn in time for the protocol to run its course.

Now, exit the contamination room, take a left and you'll see a sign for the centrifuge room. Take the southern route (the north has been blockaded) and follow the corridor round to a room with a save station just before the centrifuge chamber.

In this large central room, you'll see the centrifuge in the centre, currently offline. There is also a balcony with a console on, to the far right. To navigate through this puzzle, you'll need to activate zero-gravity mode on your suit. (R1 + L1 if on PS5).

There is also a swarm with a few Necromorphs which you may wish to take care of before beginning the puzzle.

To activate the centrifuge, you must attach the two clutch generator modules. These are big machinery modules with rotating ends on them. They also have blue magnet stickers on them, indicating that they can be moved with a Kinesis module.

However, to get them to fit into the centre module you'll need to freeze them with Kinesis and then drag them into the centre whilst they are immobilised.

You must repeat the process on the second module until both have been joined into the centre. (For PS5 this is L2 + triangle to freeze the end of the module, then L2 + circle to move the whole module along the track to the centre.)

Now that both parts are reconnected, return to the main console to restart the centrifuge. This will cause the modules to spin around the room. To get out of the area you must use avoid the spinning parts and make your way around the room to the exit.

To leave the room without falling into the spinning modules, do the following:

  • Take the cargo lift down, this is directly behind the centrifuge console.
  • Turn left on the track and run to the next platform pocket before the modules spin around.
  • Wait here, a Necromorph will spawn in between the following pockets.
  • Dispatch it, then continue whilst avoiding the modules.
  • Another Necromorph will spawn in the next pocket, there is also an O2 tank on the wall should you need to replenish your oxygen.
  • Run to the next pocket and take the cargo lift upwards.
  • Turn right to decontamination, avoiding the last Necromorph on the way.
