You will need to learn how to get wood in Cult of the Lamb, as it's arguably the most important resource in the game due to its uses for crafting the many structures that will litter your commune by the end of the game. Cult of the Lamb involves a lot of building and fighting, making for a combo punch of simulation and hack 'n' slash gameplay that will run you over a dozen hours. Chopping down trees will be your first port of call for gathering the Lumber resource in Cult of the Lamb, and there are plenty of opportunities to do so over the course of the game. When you first gain access to the commune, it will be littered with trees that you can chop down and harvest, and over the course of a few in-game days they will grow back, providing a consistent but slow source of Lumber. 

Dungeons are of course another way for you to earn Lumber. As you progress through a run, rooms have a chance to contain trees which can also be chopped down, and sometimes you can across special rooms which are filled with trees by looking for a log icon above the doors. If you repeat bosses in dungeons, you also have a chance at getting Lumber as a reward. 

The best method of earning wood in Cult of the Lamb is to build Lumberyards in the commune. These can be unlocked once you have progressed to the second row of Divine Inspiration upgrades, and cost 15 Lumber and 30 Cult of the Lamb Gold to build.

They are worth it though, as you can employ followers to chop wood and constantly earn Lumber for you. It's worth noting that they do break after a while, so make sure to build another one shortly after.
