However, much like many other issues, there are some quick and easy workarounds you can attempt to implement before giving up on the game altogether.
If you’re running into the scan and repair error in Modern Warfare 2, try these solutions to see if the issue rectifies itself for you:
- Roll back the graphics card driver you’re using if at the latest version. If not, try updating to the latest version.
- Turn off Parallax Effects in the Modern Warfare 2 settings.
- Turn off Razer Synapse if you have it installed.
- Turn off in-game voice chat in Modern Warfare 2.
Additionally, there are also two more workarounds that are a bit more complex, but could also work to rectify the scan and fix error in Modern Warfare 2. If you’re still running into this issue, try one of the following solutions:
Open MW2 In Administrator Mode

- Right-click the folder and click Properties.
- Click Compatibility.

Battle.net

- Click the cogwheel next to the Play button.

- Click Begin Scan.
