Following our guide on the best VALORANT video settings will ensure your performance is smooth and your FPS is high, which will only facilitate better gameplay. VALORANT was designed to perform well on old and new hardware alike, but you can still make it run better by changing some settings. So, take a look at our explainer of the best VALORANT video settings,

The Best VALORANT Video Settings - General

Make sure that your monitors are indeed running at their maximum refresh rate which you can enable in Windows, but also double-check in VALORANT under the general video settings in the Resolution bar. On top of the right resolution, the game will also give you a refresh rate number in brackets which you should set to the highest available numbers. With that out of the way, we can get into the best VALORANT video graphics settings to help you be a menace to VALORANT ranked play.

Resolution - (It depends)
Generally speaking, you want to stay on your native resolution. However, many great players play on lower resolution and even with a strange aspect ratio so heads appear bigger and are either to put the crosshair on (in theory). Turning the resolution down can improve your performance by a couple of frames per second.

Monitor - (Select Main Monitor)

Aspect Ratio Method - Letterbox

Limit FPS on Battery - (only matters on laptop)

Max FPS on Battery - (only matters on laptop)

Limit FPS in Menus - On

Max FPS in Menus - 144

Limit FPS in Background - On

Max FPS in Background - 30

None of these settings above are of any real importance, because they don’t impact in-game performance. Leaving them on default will generally not cause any issues.

Limit FPS Always - Off

This is where a lot of people might disagree, but not having an upper limit for your in-game FPS generally has few downsides. If you want to have a more consistent experience, limiting it to either the same amount of your refresh rate or twice of it can be a good idea.

NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency - On + Boost

This is a setting we recommend tinkering around with if you do have an NVIDIA graphics card. Which setting you should use here is contextual to your hardware but on+boost should be the right setting for most systems.

The Best VALORANT Video Settings - Graphics Quality

Here we get into the category with the most FPS to save. Choosing the right options here is crucial. Here are our recommendations.

Multithreaded Rendering - On

Material Quality - Low

Texture Quality - Low

Detail Quality - Low

UI Quality - Low

Vignitte - Off

VSync - Off

Anti-Aliasing - None

Anisotropic Filtering - 1x (if possible)

Improve Clarity - On

Bloom - On

Enhanced Gun Skin Visuals - Off (as enticing it might be, it’s likely not worth it)

Distortion - Off

Shadows - Off

The only debatable settings here are whether or not Shadows and Clarity should be switched on or off. Shadows drain a significant amount of resources but seeing them can give you a competitive advantage in some edge cases.
