If you are looking for the best Gran Turismo 7 settings, you have come to the right place. Gran Turismo 7 literally says it on the tin: this is a real driving simulator, and with it comes a collective of difficulty and mechanical settings, which influence how you play the game. WIth such a variety to its settings, it's okay to feel overwhelmed by it all. But that is where we step in, as we can point you in the right direction when it comes to the best Gran Turismo 7 settings. Let's get into it.

  • Find out why we think this is one of the best driving simulators ever made in our Gran Turismo 7 review

As a graphical powerhouse, our first stop on the hunt for the best Gran Turismo 7 settings is the display settings. These will, like many other PlayStation 5 titles, allow you to choose between ray tracing, and a focus on frame rate. Typically we'd recommend framerate over ray tracing, but even with a preference for ray tracing the frame rate holds pretty solidly. It might not always be 60fps, but it is certainly higher than 30, and with those pristine looking reflections, you really do feel like you have entered another level of graphical fidelity.

The best Gran Turismo 7 settings for difficulty may differ from person to person. If you are more into your Need For Speed: Heats over Gran Turismo you may wish to lower that difficulty in order to come to grips with that far more unforgiving (and realistic) mechanics. You'll be offered a choice when you first jump into the game, but if like us, you maybe felt a little overconfident in your ability to master the track, you can switch things up over in the general settings.

The difficulty settings here are set into three tiers: Easy, Normal, and Hard. It really is split by complete newbie to the series, lightly experienced, and hardcore driving sim expert, with the difficulty only really affecting the speed of your competitive AI cars, as prize money remains unchanged. Personally we'd say the easiest difficulty can feel a little tame, so we'd recommend coming to grips with the mechanics and controls, and gradually upping the difficulty to at least normal.

Best Gran Turismo 7 Settings: Assist Settings

The final piece of the best Gran Turismo 7 settings, are the Assist settings. These will control things like gear changing, auto-breaking, driving line assistance and so on. Unlike the previous settings, this is actually found in the settings of the event you are about to take part in. This is the most extensive part of the settings with a total of 11 individual settings. They are:

  • Gear
  • Assist Preset Selection
  • Traction Control
  • ABS
  • Auto Drive
  • Driving Line Assistance
  • Braking Indicator
  • Braking Area
  • Replace Car After Leaving Track
  • Active Stability Management
  • Countersteering Assistance

For starters set Assist Preset Selection to custom as it will allow you to teak your assist settings individually. Elements such as the braking area and indicator and driving line assistance are essentially just visual aids, so whether you keep those on is really up to you. However, we'd recommend as an absolute must, Auto Drive should be turned off. There is nothing more annoying than feeling the brakes being tapped when you are trying to go full throttle - even if it is trying to stop you from spinning out into a wall.

Most of the other settings are fine as they are in their default, however, another personal preference is the use of gears. For those just joining or only vaguely familiar with the series, keeping the gears on automatic is likely the best option. However, for those looking for the true simulator experience, switching to manual can provide a better engagement with any one race.

Those are the best Gran Turismo settings, but remember to tweak and adjust them to whatever feels right for you. While you find your footing with the settings, you can also find out how to earn credits fast in Gran Turismo 7 in our guide.
