Arguably the best PlayStation 5 exclusive out yet, one of the major points of criticism of the game was that the price point was too high for the content it offered. However, Returnal has much more replayability than meets the eye due to its highly satisfying gameplay loop that keeps you sticking around even after you finished the main storyline. It achieves this by keeping progression fairly steady even after the cut-off point, while rewarding you for getting more and more skilled at the game with each run through. Needless to say, many of the enemies are just so satisfying to slaughter with all kinds of different weapons all over again. The augmentations make sure that, like many Rogue-likes, your gameplay experience is considerably different each cycle you go through. The story is fairly short but has some real “oh dang!” moments and delivers a lot in so few words.
With the price sitting at $49.99 in the US, it should definitely be looked at if you have been one of the lucky ones to snatch a PS5. While no deal is available in the UK, there is one in Germany at €66.99 which, granted, is not quite as exciting.
Ghost of Tsushima
A game that needs no introduction is available for PlayStation 4 at a discounted price. And instant classic upon revival, it’s the perfect game to pick up while in what feels like one of the worst game release droughts in recent memory. In the UK, it’s currently sitting at £36.00 while the US undershoots it again at $29.99 for the PS5 version. Once again, be aware that you get the version for the right platform!
Assassin's Creed Valhalla
One of the biggest surprises of the release cycle in the last year was Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. While you usually know what you get with an Assassin’s Creed game, this arguably delivered beyond its scope, also side-stepping it’s usual historical settings and diving deep into Viking territory. The amount of content in the base game reminds of Witcher 3, though the writing likely isn’t quite as good. That said, you’ll still get an easy 60hours of entertainment out of it when played at a decent pace. Completionists will be able to double the amount. At £29.49 for the PS4 version, which you can upgrade to the PS5 version without much hassle, is great value for the amount of entertainment you will receive. $22.99 for the US version is even better.
Logitech Mice
Logitech has some sweet deals on offer, especially in their mouse department. Starting with the Logitech G Pro Wireless, a rechargeable gaming mouse that is good enough to even work for professional play, you got an all-time low price of £66.99 which is fortunately only available for the UK. Readers are well-advised to read upon the double-click issue which seems to occur in a lot of the G Pros after a while.
For the lighter pocket, the G305 is one of the cheapest, high performing mice for gaming out there. With Logitech’s LIGHTSPEED technology, there’s no noticeable input lag that you have to be afraid of. Yes, even at that price point. A single AA battery will last you 250 hours, so running out of juice is also not the issue that you might think it will be, with the mouse giving you ample indication when to switch the battery out before you feel hopeless in a firefight. At £24.99/$28.49, it might be the best budget wireless gaming mouse currently available.
Gadget
One particular gadget deal that caught our eye is the Garmin Instinct Esports Edition, which has most of the chops of a regular fitness watch but also brings quirky watch features such as a heartbeat sensor and stress level measurement which you can sync up with your overlay for your personal stream, making it easy to communicate high tension moments via those metrics. As a fitness tracker, the Instinct still does a fine job without requiring daily charging with 80 hours of battery life even while sending your metrics to your PC via a Bluetooth connection. While we have seen it discounted in other European countries over the last couple of weeks, it’s unfortunately only available in the US and currently sits at $179.99.
A lot of the aforementioned products are in short supply mainly because they are so highly sought after, with many of the non-virtual ones likely to hit a stock limit soon, so make sure you get there early and most definitely triple-check that you buy the right gear for the right platform!
