Where Is Our Morbius Video Game?

It was only a matter of time until he breached the gaming industry. Daniel Espinosa's Morbius is sweeping the planet, but not for the reasons that Sony would want. The Jared Leto-led anti-hero car crash is a horrible movie in all aspects, but that just makes it ripe to be memed. The internet has responded with its best work.

Morbius has become a symbol of all things faux-badass, dark and gritty in the context of a superhero flick, and its quality is so unbelievably poor that the fabricated line of dialogue "it's Morbin' time" has become a call to arms for the chronically online everywhere. Now, those subjects of Michael Morbius are imagining him as the protagonist of Nintendo Wii shovelware.

Is There A Morbius Video Game?

As part of the ginormous Morbening, Twitter users are turning the cover art for the Morbius film into interpretations of what it would look like if it was adapted to video games, as part of the push for movie tie-in games. And all it's doing is making us rue the fact that the game didn't come out in the early 2000s, as its deeply unmodern script would imply it should have been.

There's very little in the way of an explanation for why Morbius is expanding into shovelware gaming, but frankly, that's the best way for it to be. Please don't tell us how this makes sense. It's more merciful not to know.

Morbius Has Landed In Super Smash Bros Brawl

Plus, as if this wasn't enough Morbin' for your taste, some Twitter users have brought Morbius to life as the newest fighter to join the Wii's Super Smash Bros Brawl.

One user has transformed another's tweet into a reality, with an impression of the game's announcer revealing Michael Morbius as the new fighter for the game. Don't worry, we don't imagine Jared Leto will be reprising his role as the vampiric doctor to lend his vocals to Smash. Maybe if the movie had been a bigger hit.

If you thought the bizarre hype surrounding Leto's Suicide Squad performance as Joker was a lot, that's nothing compared to him playing Michael Morbius. Morbius is everywhere now, and we just can't pinch him off, no matter how hard we try. We might be memeing Morbius into a sequel, and if this is the case, we're afraid of a universe with Morbius 2. Please stop this.
