It seems that YouTube and Twitch are battling it out to get their hands on the most popular streamers at the moment. With content creators switching to-and-fro from the platforms, streamers have been weighing on their own experiences, including Pokimane and TimTheTatman

Ludwig "Ludwig" Ahgren sent shockwaves across the streaming community on November 29 when he shared a cinematic trailer announcing that he was moving from Twitch to YouTube Gaming. In doing so, he joined the likes of Benjamin "DrLupo" Lupo, Rachell "Valkyrae" Hofstetter, and Jack "CouRage" Dunlop who have all jumped Twitch's ship for YouTube

The move has prompted a huge amount of debate from Ludwig's fellow streamers across both platforms. This includes two big names in the industry, Imane "Pokimane" Anys and Timothy "TimTheTatman" Betar, who have shared their own experiences with the platforms.

What Did TimTheTatman Say About Leaving Twitch?

TimTheTatman made the big move from Twitch to YouTube Gaming in September 2021. Speaking to Insider, the streamer originally claimed that the move would allow him to spend more time with his family, stating: "The reality is, now that I’ve got my wife and my son, it’s hard for me to stream as much as I did beforehand." However, it appears that this wasn't the only contributing factor to what led to TimTheTatman handing in the towel with Twitch.

Approximately, 46 minutes into his Warzone stream, TimTheTatman began to watch Ludwig's explanation as to why he moved to YouTube Gaming. During which, TimTheTatman claimed that he'd had a similar experience with Twitch after he informed the Amazon-owned streamer of his decision to leave. In the clip, Ludwig claimed that Twitch did very little to fight for him and keep him on the books, supposedly saying "we wish you all the best" which left him feeling "hurt". Pausing the video, TimTheTatMan's response was "interesting." Going into further detail, the streamer claimed: "I had my own decision-making process with YouTube and Twitch, all I'll say is [...] I was on Twitch for eight or nine years, and similar story there, man."

Why Did Pokimane Choose Twitch Over YouTube?

However, over in the purple corner was Pokimane who presented a counter-argument to TimTheTatman and Ludwig. Adding her voice to the debate, Pokimane shared her reasons for sticking with Twitch claiming: "Two years ago when I first had to choose between Twitch and YouTube, like make my final decision, you know what I decided off of? Not which platform would make me more money, not which platform would be nicer to me, but which platform I would have more f*cking fun on".

Referring back to Ludwig's big platform change, Pokimane said: "I understand why Lud would be put off by the fact that Twitch didn't care about him as much as YouTube, but I hope he knows some people have been treated way worse [...] At the end of the day, business is business on YouTube and on Twitch."

Pokimane may not be the highest earning female Twitch streamer in 2021, but she has still been able to build a mega fanbase from her career on the platform, as well as developing a successful following on YouTube. However, Pokimane also claimed that since signing with Twitch, she had problems with her YouTube videos getting views due to the algorithm. She also stated that she had been waiting for two weeks for YouTube to sort out the issues, which has heavily affecting her channel.

YouTube and Switch both seem to have their pros and cons for streamers when it comes to making the decision on which platform to go with. While it might seem that a wave of creators who are moving on to redder pastures, it seems they are just as many who are happy in their purple paradise.
