Team BDS are the greatest Rocket League team in the world. Possibly, and quite probably, the best of all time. Crowned as the RLCS 2021-22 World Champions, their reign over Europe has now extended to conquering the world, laying any doubts to rest that they favoured the online era.

The long-standing duo of Alex "Extra" Paoli and Evan "M0nkey M00n" Rogez now have eight Regionals, four Majors (including one international), and a world championship to their name after taking over the throne that NRG warmed for nearly 1,000 days throughout the pandemic era.

Combined with the recent acquisitions of Enzo "Seikoo" Grondein and Head Coach Theo "Mew" Ponzoni, the BDS roster has become unstoppable, and now they are already eyeing up the defence of their World Champion status.

Team BDS Play Down Any Claims Of Being The Best Team Of All Time

With many claims being laid that Team BDS are the greatest team of all time, overthrowing the great dynasty of Gale Force Esports/Dignitas, the roster was quick to iterate that they need more international titles to be worthy of the accolade.

"I think it is a bit too soon to say this," said Mew. "This team with myself and Seikoo has only had one split of existence, so we need to make sure that this isn't a honeymoon period. So, not yet."

The organisation has been a dominant force throughout Europe in the last two seasons though, only dropping one championship out of four last season. Now, with a Fall Split Major under their belt, proving an international prowess, and a World Championship, the dynasty may have been cemented.

However, Mew continued: "It could be, for sure. We have the potential to be the best team ever created in Rocket League, for sure, but it is too soon to say so yet."

For Extra, it's a well-documented fact that his goal is to become the best rotational player in the world, taking over from fellow Frenchman Alexandre "Kaydop" Courant, and now he has achieved this feat.

"Officially, yes," he said when posed the question as to whether he is the best rotator in the game. "I think I didn't play the best series in the final, but I did what I needed to for my team to win, and I'm proud of what I did."

Team BDS Already Eyeing Defending Their Championship

"I think we're all going to go on holiday for a bit, no games, no PCs or whatever. Enjoy some time with our friends and family". That's the immediate plan for Team BDS according to Extra, but that hasn't stopped them already thinking about the future and continuing to defend their crown.

"The goal is already set up. The goal is to defend this next year. It will be one month off, completely out, and then we go again,"  added Mew.

The World Championships ends the season for BDS and the entirety of Rocket League, and with a well-earned break on the way, the only thing that BDS has left on their bucket list is to defend it on home turf too.

A unanimous "yes" was the answer to a Major in France next year, which will come as a welcome arrival should the developers take us to the home of the champions.

With Team BDS crowned as champions, and their legacy fulfilled, the 2021-22 campaign has ended in a scintillating fashion, epitomising everything beautiful that Rocket League has to offer.
