Dust off those Exo suits, soldiers we're heading back to the future! Advanced Warfare, arguably the most slept-on and unappreciated Call of Duty of all time, is set to have a sequel. Better yet, reports suggest that Sledgehammer Games have already begun developing it.

The futuristic jet-pack title was widely criticised when it first launched, taking the Call of Duty experience away from the ground and primarily into the air with the help of some mechanical robots and 'Exo' skeletons.

However, fans now reminisce over the title and wish that they had appreciated its quality while it was relevant. Well, Sledgehammer Games might just be answering your prayers, as reports suggest Advanced Warfare 2 coming.

Leakers Suggest Advanced Warfare 2 Is In Development

Renowned leaker Ralph Valve has been backed up by an array of dataminers and fellow in-the-know personalities in his claims that Sledgehammer Games have been given the green light to make another instalment of the Call of Duty franchise. More specifically, it's thought to be Advanced Warfare 2 .

The popular leaker has claimed that Sledgehammer Games is doing away with their not-so-successful World War II voyages, and will usher back to the future by producing another Advanced Warfare on the updated IW 9.0 engine.

Ralph Valve also added that Sledgehammer revisiting the futuristic era of Call of Duty could also impact the Battle Royale experience too.

What Is The Advanced Warfare 2 Release Date?

With Modern Warfare 2 being prominent for the next two years - with the second year having a focus on the 'Greatest Hits' - Treyarch is next in line to produce a Call of Duty title. Its 2024 instalment is already underway and will reportedly visit the Gulf War and Middle-Eastern conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

However, it was unclear whether Treyarch will be producing a title for two years, like MW2, or the usual one-year season. Now, Ralph suggests that it will only be for a single year, and the Sledgehammer Games will release Advanced Warfare 2 in 2025.

With Infinite Warfare putting an end to the fully-futuristic titles, and rightly so, Advanced Warfare 2 would take us back to unchartered territory. Many people have called for a futuristic title to come back though, and even Seth "Scump" Abner claims he preferred jet packs to this slide-cancelling meta we've been living through.

An Advanced Warfare sequel would be divisive, but with three years of development, it could prove to be a massive success.
