Clad in his championship whites armour with a neon green breastplate and a jewelled crown atop his helmet, the "King" of Call of Duty led his troops into battle on their home territory for the first time in the Vanguard season, and typical of the game's title, Seth "Scump" Abner's front-line action has seen the reinforcement ring true to top off a 30th Championship win.

Scump, often dubbed as the King of Call of Duty and one of the greatest players ever, has won his 30th Major Championship title, as OpTic Texas win the CDL Stage 1 Major, on their own turf.

As hosts of the Stage 1 Major, OpTic Texas had stormed into the event off the back of a three-game win streak, finding form after a slow start to the League Play. OpTic's journey kicked off with a 3-0 demolition job over Seattle Surge before meeting their main rivals Atlanta FaZe on-stage for the first time in 993 days.

Three years in the making and the OpTic vs FaZe script hadn't wavered in the slightest, as a 2-0 lead in favour of Atlanta was soon reverse swept by the boys in Green who dumped FaZe Clan to the losers bracket.

Another win against London Royal Ravens pushed OpTic into the grand finals, and after a win-less year in Black Ops Cold War, the Green Wall were desperate for a Major Championship win to kick off the Vanguard Season.

After not playing FaZe for nigh on three years, as the saying goes: when it rains, it pours. Manoeuvring through the lower bracket, FaZe secured a rematch with OpTic Texas, this time with a championship on the cards. Since finals are a gruelling best of 9, it took a tremendous effort for OpTic to hold off the rampant FaZe assaults, as they fed off the energy of their home crowd to take the series 5-2 and be crowned as the CDL Major 1 Champions - their first title on LAN since 2018 (except those of Chicago Huntsmen's in 2020).

Scump Wins 30th Major Championship

Having burst onto the scene back in the Black Ops era of 2011, Scump has now won a whopping 30 championships, most of which came under the OpTic banner.

With one World Championship to his name and 30 major titles, Scump sits second in the most-winningest player lists behind former teammate Ian "Crimsix" Porter.

OpTic's return to the top of the tree is a feat four years in the making, having finally secured a solid home for the brand alongside Envy, and finally pairing Scump with three teammates able to light up the world; Brandon "Dashy" Otell, referred to as Bruce for his Dark Knight persona, Anthony "Shottzy" Cuevas-Castro, the 2018 MVP, and Indervir "iLLeY" Dhaliwal, arguably OpTic's best performer of the year, will now look to kick on the season behind Scump's leadership and secure more titles for the Green Wall.
