After 14 years, the undeniable king of Call of Duty esports Seth "Scump" Abner has retired from competing.

The 27-year-old legend was due to retire at the end of the season but has now decided to step down from the OpTic Texas roster in favour of reintegrating Brandon "Dashy" Otell into the starting lineup.

Having stepped onto the scene in January 2011, Scump spent 12 years at the heights of Call of Duty esports, but will now leave to focus on a career in content creation.

Scump Stuns Call of Duty Community With Early Retirement

As arguably the greatest player of all time, but definitely the most influential Call of Duty esports professional ever, Scump retires with a magnificent collection of accolades.

After 95 events, the ginja ninja walks away with 31 event wins, including one Call of Duty World Championship, two XGames', one World Series of Warzone, and ten further Major titles.

Scump also bows out with a most recent result against Boston Breach going in favour of OpTic, where he posted a 1.22 K/D ratio, which is the highest final series statistic from any player ever.

Call of Duty Community Honours Scump Following Retirement.

Regarded by his peers, as much as the wider community, as the most influential player ever, a wealth of professionals have now paid their respects to Scump's career and legacy within the game.

Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag hailed the impact that he had on the industry.

Fellow veteran James "Clayster" Eubanks reflected on the emotional highs and lows of their friendship and rivalry.

Scump's now predecessor Dashy pledged to make him proud.

Now the oldest SMG player in the league Ben "Bance" Bance claimed we need a national holiday to celebrate Scump.

Dillon "Attach" Price added that the scene is "chalked" now, but also thanked him for everything he did for the community.

Scump's great friend Anthony "Methodz" Zinni rolled out the camera archives too.

A wealth of more pros, coaches, analysts, content creators, developers, community figures, and fans continued to congratulate Scump on his outstanding career.

OpTic will now go forward with Dashy stepping back into the AR position with Indervir "iLLeY" Dhaliwal, Cuyler "Huke" Garland, and Anthony "Shotzzy" Cuevas-Castro supporting him with the submachine guns.
