You'd think that Pokemon would be done with its recent reboots by now.

Of course, it hasn't actually been that long since they released, but Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have now been succeeded by Pokemon Legends: Arceus, a game deemed far superior by fans and critics alike, and with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet on the way, you'd expect that the games would be left dead in the water. But no, sir.

Pokemon BDSP is still seemingly going strong, with a new addition to the game coming to commemorate Legends: Arceus - but it comes with a whopping price.

Pokemon BDSP Has Put Arceus Behind A Huge Paywall

You might remember that the original Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum games came with the opportunity to find the Azure Flute and, in turn, find the legendary beast Arceus in-game. It's a feature that was noticeably missing from the games' remakes, and it has puzzled fans - until now, as the feature has been added to the game. But there's a catch.

In order to find the Azure Flute, you first need to have completed save data from Pokemon Legends: Arceus, meaning that you could have to fork over £50 for the game in order to bag the God Pokemon in the remakes.

It makes sense, really, but it's still frustrating that a regular feature from the original games is being restricted to players who are really keeping up with the franchise with a paywall like this. And fans aren't very happy about it.

Fans React To Arceus Paywall

As you can probably imagine, fans aren't over the moon they'll likely have to buy an entirely new game to get one Pokemon in BDSP.

It's not particularly ideal, but for some, this is better than simply opting for a timed exclusive event. Either way, a lot of fans are probably going to be paying a lot to bag Arceus - and it's going to turn out brilliantly for The Pokemon Company.
