She might be the world's most dangerous 13-year-old and pack a punch in the "awww" department, but that doesn't mean there's much love for Borderlands' Tiny Tina right now. In fact, PlayStation fans are close to building scarecrows of her to burn on the front lawn.

First appearing in 2011's Borderlands 2, Tiny Tina was one of the game's many NPCs and revealed as an explosives expert that stole our hearts. As well as popping by for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 3, you might remember she has her own DLC in the form of Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep. Considering she's a fan-favourite of the franchise, what's with all the hate?

Why Do PlayStation Fans Hate Tiny Tina?

The latest fracas comes from the fact that Assault on Dragon Keep has landed on this month's PS Plus roster. Alongside Planet Coaster and UFC 4, the Borderlands spin-off was hardly winning over the subscription service's critics. Planet Coaster was already panned for being a PS5 exclusive that isn't all that impressive, but now that players have been diving into Assault on Dragon Keep, Tiny Tina has become public enemy number one.

Over on Reddit, the addition of the Borderlands spin-off was branded "insulting". When you boot up Assault on Dragon Keep, you're also greeted by a massive ad for Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. We see what you're doing Sony - you're just trying to promote Tina's upcoming adventure. Venting their rage, one critic wrote, "The fact that this kind of aggressive monetization being the norm in the video game industry now is mindblowing."

Another added, "No other publisher who has their games on PS plus gives you access to only a portion of the game. They may give u access to only the last-gen version, but none of them are as ballsy as Gearbox to give out a dlc or side content." A third concluded, "They must need money or they're focusing on monetizing old stuff. Borderlands 3 for PC is the featured game in Humble Choice this month."

Is Your Tiny Tina Hate Valid?

Remembering that Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Reach launched nearly a decade ago as a DLC - and is on the PS Store as $9.99/£7.99 - it's hardly the kind of release we're used to. In recent months alone we've had the likes of LEGO DC Super-VillainsMortal Kombat X, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Other big hitters have included Star Wars Battlefront IIUncharted 4, and BioShock: The Collection

On the plus side, there's a tradition that after a lacklustre month, we usually get a big one. Still, it's only fired up the controversy that Sony is lacking behind the Xbox Game Pass. With the mysterious Project Spartacus on the way, hopefully, an overhaul is on the way. We get why Gearbox is trying to promote Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, but come on guys - do better!
