With The Last of Us coming out in 2013, chances are, most of you have played it by now. If not, the popularity of HBO's live-action series might have you wanting to take it for a spin.

Naughty Dog confirmed the long-rumoured The Last of Us remake at Summer Games Fest, with the PS5 game being called The Last of Us Part I. As part of this, Neil Druckmann hyped the later release on PC as part of Sony's push away from console exclusivity.

As with any big release these days, there are Special Editions, Digital Deluxe Editions, and Collector's Editions. Just like PS5 owners got The Last of Us Part I Firefly Edition, PC players are getting the same... although they're not happy.

Players Hate The Last Of Us Part 1 Firefly Edition

Available via PlayStation Direct, the Firefly Edition will cost a hefty $100/£100. Like the PS5 version, you'll get the base game and its Left Behind prequel DLC, a limited edition SteelBook display case, The Last of Us: American Dreams comics (with new cover art), and an array of early in-game unlocks.

That might sound pretty tasty, but given that your $100/£100 gives you a Steam key instead of a physical copy, it's left some angry fans. Responding on Twitter, one joked, "100 dollars for a re-re-release of a movie game that is also a tv show now! And a steel case to display your Steam code! What a steal!"

Another grumbled, "Only reason to buy this is for the steelbook. Just keep the steelbook and piecemeal everything else out on eBay; you'll easily get your $100 back," while a third said, "Just buy the ps4 version off psn it's like $10 ☠️☠️"

Players Are Worried Sony Will Ship Damaged Games

The other big worry is that we'll get a repeat of the PS5 Firefly Edition. When the first version came out, there were multiple reports of damaged packaging.

To make matters worse, Sony confirmed it wouldn't be offering refunds or shipping new copies. This is probably why the listing for the PC version lists "no refunds" in massive letters. Responding to the Firefly Edition, one wrote, "Hopefully Sony doesn’t destroy these in the shipping process like the PS5 one."

For those who don't fancy stumping up for the Firefly Edition or are in locations where PlayStation Direct isn't available, you could always buy the $60/£60 Digital Deluxe version from the Steam or Epic Game Store.

Despite there being a strict one-copy-per-customer rule on the Firefly Edition, there still seems to be plenty available online. Still, for The Last of Us die-hards, it's sure to be one to add to the collection.
