Ninja And SypherPK Discuss Return Of Old Fortnite Map

With complaints that the current Fortnite map is a little stale, Tyler "Ninja" Blevins and Ali “SypherPK” Hassan have reminisced about the good ol' days and asked whether the OG map will ever be brought back.  As we pine for a return of Dusty Depot, Wailing Woods, and Fatal Fields, the two streamers discussed whether Epic would reinstate the glory days of the original map.

After Season X rounded off with "The End" and swallowed the map, Chapter 2 spat out a brand new map for us to explore and introduced everything from Craggy Cliffs to Sweaty Sands. There are currently just three locations from the Chapter 1 map still in Fortnite, meaning Salty Springs, Pleasant Park, and Retail Row are a dying breed. With so much love for the first map, it's unsurprising Ninja and SypherPK's conversation turned to its potential restoration.

Speaking on SypherPK's YouTube channel, the pair mulled over the idea of the Chapter 1 map making a triumphant return. Ninja mused, "If they brought back to the old map, they would have to 100 percent rejuvenate it. It would be like creating a new map". SypherPK suggested elsewhere that now would be a great time to bring back the Quad Crusher, saying that now it works right, it could improve the Chapter 2 map in terms of mobility.

Ninja also argued the original map would bring back players who've maybe dipped away from Fortnite for a while. Ultimately, neither could decide whether the original map would make a return. Both Apex Legends and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds have reinstated their OG maps, but by the sounds of Ninja and SypherPK's conversation, it would take a lot of work.

It's no secret that Ninja isn't exactly a fan of the Chapter 2 map. Back in May, he slammed the size of the map and lack of mobility items like Bounce Pads. Crossing the large playing field was getting increasingly hard, leading to the introduction of boats to help navigate. Ninja wasn't alone in his critiques, and was backed by other disgruntled players.

His latest thoughts come after the 29-year-old accused players of "sleeping" on Season 4. Ninja said Fortnite fans aren't making the most of the Marvel content and what is arguably one of the most exciting seasons to date. It's no secret that Ninja has something of a complicated relationship with the game, but also, let's not forget his credentials as one of its best players.

Interestingly, there have been plenty of nods to old locales in the current Marvel-themed Chapter 2 Season 4. Heading to the Collector's Museum, there were Easter eggs that harked back to the early days, and even an old black and white photo of Tomato Town. Some took this to mean Season 4 could round off with some sort of cataclysmic catastrophe similar to "The Event" that would reinstate the original map. The likes of Avengers: Endgame have dabbled with time travel and alternate realities, so you never know what's just around the corner.
