For a group of athletes so good at catching, the NFL players haven't half dropped the ball with their Call of Duty secrets.

The popularity of the game in the NFL ranks is well documented, given that a range of personalities can often be found streaming alongside notable community figures, and some players have recently been under the microscope for dwindling performances during Double XP weekends.

Activision has started leaning into this link quite heavily too, giving selected NFL stars a chance to get hold of early builds of Modern Warfare 2, although they might now begin to rue this choice as their butter-fingers have begun leaking a first look at multiplayer.

Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Leaked By NFL Players

The American Football player Quentin Lake posted a short snippet of his Los Angeles Rams teammates all testing out the upcoming game, followed by the hashtag "codpartner" onto a now-deleted Instagram story. The footage on display was of the Rams players operating on the already-revealed Campaign mission, although more leaks came in the form of still images.

Rams' Cameron Dicker also shared images of the game, specifically of his team playing in a multiplayer lobby, giving us a first look at the new hub. Dicker's post also showed a map named Valderas Museum, confirming the first multiplayer map name.

LA Rams are also owned by the Kroenke family behind the Call of Duty League's Los Angeles Guerrillas, which might be the reason why they were the chosen NFL side to be partnered with Call of Duty this time around.

NFL Players Confirm DMZ Mode Will Be Ported In Modern Warfare 2

Another leak from the NFL also all-but-confirmed that the rumoured DMZ mode will be ported into Modern Warfare 2, despite claims that it will be released as a standalone title.

Its importance is quite startling too, as Activision recently hinted towards a full game to be released in 2023, meaning that if DMZ is to be connected to MW2, the developers are working on another project to be released next year.

The Escape From Tarkov-inspired game mode is still set to be released some time after Modern Warfare 2 comes out, but the NFL leak finally confirms its existence.

With hope, the NFL players might continue to let slip some more information about the game, as the Call of Duty community prepares for a well-needed fresh start.
