YouTuber Logan Paul has had to defend himself following accusations that the scandal surrounding his fake Pokemon cards was all part of a publicity stunt.

This has been one hell of a rocky road for 26-year-old Logan Paul, who sent shockwaves across the internet after he spent $3.5 million on a case of first-edition Pokémon card boxes. However, a team of dedicated Pokémon card collectors questioned whether the case could be fake and, sure enough, they turned out to be right, leaving Paul devastated.

However, as the story quickly grabbed the attention of viewers across the world and Logan Paul's name started to circulate the internet, some began to question whether the whole scandal had just been one huge publicity stunt.

Why Do People Think Logan Paul Faked The Pokemon Card Scandal?

Fans first began to question Paul's motives as soon as he announced that his case of first-edition cards was fake. For many, it was due to the fact that Paul had a camera crew follow him through the process as he went to have the cards verified by the Baseball Card Exchange (BBCE). He then posted the video on his YouTube channel which captured his seemingly genuine reaction as he was horrified to discover that he had actually spent $3.5 million on a case of G.I. Joe cards.

Yet, for many fans, Paul's reactions were all just an act. Some claimed that Paul fabricated the entire scandal for content as it all seemed too perfectly formulated. However, on January 18, Logan Paul joined the IMPAULSIVE on YouTube in which he discussed the scandal, which was dubbed "the biggest fraud in the entire history of Pokémon". In the podcast, Paul categorically denied that the scandal was just as fake as his Pokémon case and that he was truly devastated by the discovery.

Logan Paul Denies The Fake Pokemon Scandal Was A Publicity Stunt

During the IMPAULSIVE Podcast, Paul denied claims that the whole scandal had just been a way for the YouTuber to get some popular content. He stressed: "That was a sad day, that was a very sad day." He also went into further detail about developments in his investigations about who exactly scammed him and that they had perhaps found the group who originally made the fake case. Paul explained that the group weren't expecting Paul to eventually end up with the box and bring attention to it, which would eventually blow their cover.

Logan also revealed that he had been fully reimbursed by the man who sold him the case for the $3.5 million, and they were "helping him" chase the scammers. It seems that even Logan's other brother Jake questioned whether it had all been part of a publicity stunt. Yet, he stressed: "No, it's not fake at all [...] being in that room that night was incredibly sad."
