While Microsoft thinks it's beaten Sony thanks to that massive Activision Blizzard acquisition, the PlayStation powerhouse might have Xbox licked in another department. We know that Sony is massively expanding its output of live-action movies and TV shows based on its biggest IPs, and now, another challenger could be summoned to the arena.

Live-action video game adaptations were once at the bottom of bargain basement DVD bins, and in a particularly bad year, 2005 is remembered for the abysmal Alone in the Dark and Doom (to be fair, the 2009's Doom: Annihilation didn't do much better). Things are slightly better these days, but then again, remember we've still got duds like last year's Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City.

Sony once again hopes to break the video game curse to be the next Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Arcane or The Cuphead Show, but it's arguably harder to bust into the medium of live-action. PlayStation exclusives are already off to a promising start with high hopes for HBO's The Last of Us and Amazon's promise that God of War can flex its muscles. Now, there are potential live-action outings for FromSotware shows.

Are We Getting Live-Action Elden Ring And Bloodborne Series?

In August, Sony acquired a chunk of FromSoftware - the lauded Elden Ring and Bloodborne developer. Although conversation soon turned to whether we could see future titles from the acclaimed Souls-like developer being tied to the PlayStation as exclusives, it turns out there's a different side to the deal.

When discussing the FromSoftware deal and the act Elden Ring has sold over 16.6 million copies since launch, PlayStation Studios Head Hermen Hulst told Reuters, "You should think of collaborations on the game development side first and foremost, but it’s also not unthinkable with our PlayStation Productions efforts that we explore opportunities." If that doesn't scream live-action Elden Ring TV series... nothing does.

Does Sony Have The TV And Movie Market Cornered?

Sony seems to have a monopoly at the moment, which was kickstarted by the Tom Holland-led Uncharted movie - that's already tipped for a franchise. As well as the aforementioned The Last of Us and God of War, we also know a live-action Horizon series is on the way. It's true that Microsoft has Paramount's Halo series, but with it being remembered for Pablo Schreiber's butt rather than its content, it'll likely be drowned by The Last of Us' success.

Elsewhere, there's the long-moooted Gears of War film that can bring another Xbox favourite to life. Still, it feels that Sony is miles ahead of the competition. If it can add Elden Ring or Bloodborne (dare we wish for both?) to its roster, Microsoft might as well give up now. Unless a Fable series suddenly spring up out of nowhere, the FromSoft Cinematic Universe could decimate the completion. We know there are plans to expand the Elden Ring name, and to be honest, we can think of no better way.
