Game Freak is dusting off its Pokeballs as Pokemon Legends: Arceus reveals yet another new form from this feudal favourite. As we head back further into the franchise than ever before, it's time to give a warm Hisui hug to Hisuian Voltorb.

Everything is coming together nicely in the ever-expanding world of Pokemon, with the recent release of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl reintroducing us to the beloved Gen IV. Conveniently, The Pokemon Company has been setting us up for Pokemon Legends: Arceus' launch.

Hisui is described as a feudal version of BDSP's Sinnoh Region, meaning we'll get to see a very different kind of Pokeworld. Although Arceus isn't quite open-world like we were promised, we can't wait for its release alongside a whole host of new 'Mon.

What Does Hisuian Voltorb Look Like?

We'd already speculated that a Hisuian Voltorb was on the way thanks to some not-so-subtle marketing that showed off a ball-shaped Hisui variant. Posting on the official Pokemon YouTube, we get to see a suitable prequel-esque Voltorb that looks like it's made out of wood.

This "shocking" debut is definitely Voltorb, but with a Hisui twist. Of course, Voltorb isn't the only Hisuian arrival, thanks to the Hisui Pokedex already showing off Hisuian exclusive Pokemon such as Basculegion as a Hisuian Basculin evolution, Kleavor as a Scyther evolution, Wrydeer for a Hisui Stantler, and Hisuian forms of both Growlithe and Braviary.

The official Pokemon Twitter posted about Hisuian Voltorb and described him as follows: "This Pokemon is always in high spirits and has a friendly personality. However, it discharges its stored electricity when it gets excited, so it frequently shocks nearby humans and Pokemon."

What Have Fans Said About Hisuian Voltorb?

Posting online, players clearly love Hisuian Voltorb and his almost unfinished look. We guess the generations have worn him down and made him into his classic rounded shape. "Hisui Voltorb has to be one of the best designs ever he’s just a little dude :)" said one, while another cheered, "Hisui voltorb is the highlight of my day honestly."

Expanding on the potential lore of Voltorb, someone else added, "I read it’s bio on the Legends Arceus website and poor Voltorb, he just wants some friends. It would also explain how we got the Voltorb we know today. It became a jerk because people in Hisui were jerks to it."

Elsewhere in the Twitterverse, someone on December 7 correctly guessed Hisuian Voltorb was on the way, but also claimed there are four more Hisui variants. If it's to be believed, we'll also see Hisuan Electrode, Decidueye, Typhlosion, and Samurott to take the total to 10 variants.

Now that we've got Hisuian Voltorb, it only makes sense that Hisuian Electrode joins it as a bigger, beefier, brother. Either way, it's clear Game Freak isn't done rolling out the welcome wagon for its Hisui variants of some classic pocket monsters. Welcome to the family Hisuian Voltorb.
