Zagreus has some new foes to face, as Supergiant Games' Hades just got a massive update. When you're bored of facing the Furies for the 1000th time, how about some new gods and monsters to help or hinder the plucky young Zag?

Back in 2020, the colourful roguelike took us to the corpse-riddled depths of the Grecian underworld and tasked Zagreus with escaping from his father's clutches. If you haven't played Hades, be prepared to die a lot as level up and slash your way through Meg, the Bone Hydra, and the big man himself. There are the gods of Olympus here to lend a hand, but as you know, they aren't always on your side.

What New Gods Are Coming To Hades?

Four new gods are raining their wrath on Hades as part of the OlympusExtra mod. Over on Nexus Mods, the mod's description reads, "OlympusExtra is a Hades DLC mod which adds new gods and boons to the Hades game. This includes unique effects, god's curses, duo boons, voicelines, and more."

Currently, there is only Apollo who's joined the roster. The rest are "still in the early stages of development," but expect Hera, Hestia, and Hephaestus to join the party soon. Looking at Apollo, there is the usual crop of casts and boons, with his Golden Fleece boon (gaining a reroll for every 100 coins collected) sounding like a must-have.

As for the others, Hera (the Greek Goddess of women, marriage, and childbirth) Hestia (Hearth and Home), and Hephaestus (God of Fire) are expected to have suitably themed casts and boons to mix things up a bit. Sadly, the fact this is a mod means you'll only be able to add the four new gods if you play Hades on PC.

Will There Be A Hades 2?

Even though Hades was officially released in 2020, its early access started in 2018. With it being four years, it's around now you'd likely start hearing about a potential Hades 2. Last August, Supergiant's Greg Kasavin told NME he didn't know if it would get a sequel. "We have never known in the past what comes next. We never plan our next game until we’re done with the one that we’re currently working on," said Kasavin.

He continued, "I think part of the reason is that there's a little superstition around that for our team because we want to make sure that we're fully committed to the thing that we're currently working on instead of, you know, counting our chickens before they hatch." Things aren't looking great, with previous Supergiant titles being standalone outings. For the time being, it could be up to modding, the Hades-esque Neon White, and a few prayers to the Greek gods if we want to see more from Hades
