GTA Trilogy Can't Even Get The Rockstar Games Logo Right
*Sigh*, things are going from bad to worse for the GTA Trilogy. Grove Street Games took the reins from Rockstar Games to handle the port of these noughties classics, and it seems, there's not much love lost between the two sides.
Revamping GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas for modern consoles should've been relatively easy, however, the complaints have been coming thick and fast. Whether it was a case of rushing or laziness, the latest chapter in the legacy of GTA is destined to be a blot on the franchise's ledger for the rest of time.
What's Happened To The Rockstar Games Logo?
We could sit here all day and write about problems in the GTA Trilogy, but the latest is a doozy. Giving an inadvertent middle finger to Rockstar, Grove Street has stuffed up the OG developer's logo. Posting on Reddit, u/TOOMtheRaccoon questioned how the Rockstar logo can be done wrong. Since the early days of GTA, Rockstar and its star logo have become synonymous with the series.
Somewhere in Vice City, there's a backyard in the shape of the Rockstar logo - as a nice Easter egg to the original developer. The problem is, the game's minimap shows the pool as a six-pointed star instead of Rockstar's classic five-point star.
Other players quickly jumped on the bandwagon to continue trashing the GTA Trilogy with great glee. One chuckled, "This is the definitive edition. This logo is now canon. I await Rockstar’s correction to their current logo," while another joked, "You literally learn to make it when you're a child."
A third slated Grove Street and concluded, "Nah, it's just a sign that GSG doesn't pay attention to detail, like an external contractor who's just in it for the quick cash, commissioned by a company that's after quick cash."
Is The GTA Trilogy Really That Bad?
The simple premise of the GTA Trilogy pitched it as one of 2021's biggest games. Instead, it's been repeatedly dubbed this year's Cyberpunk 2077. Things probably wouldn't have been that bad, but all three games were available for digital download on various storefronts. Instead, they've been pulled, slapped with a higher price tag, and repackaged as a way to force players to part with their cash.
Possibly the biggest problem is this new-gen pricing comes with what's definitely not new-gen graphics. Social media has been flooded with complaints, and alongside the games being pulled from PC sale, others are demanding a refund. All in all, it doesn't paint a pretty picture for the upcoming GTA V Expanded & Enhanced.
In particular, it's been the PC version of the GTA Trilogy that's faced the harshest criticisms. Grove Street Games has promised updates will fix some of the issues, but for many, it's already too late. The GTA Trilogy has been branded an embarrassment more than enough the past week, however, getting the original developer's logo wrong could be the icing on the cake.
