God of War: Ragnarok is a huge marker in video game history.

Though it might seem a little complex on the surface for the game to serve as the sequel to a reboot, but the game is one of the most remarkable first-party games in PlayStation's history, and the perfect way to draw a close to Kratos' story.

The game has more than proven itself with fans and critics, and now, it's proving its worth to the gaming charts.

God of War Ragnarok Shatters Incredible Sales Record

Moving on already from the waves of nominations at The Game Awards, it looks like a brand new PlayStation record has been shattered by God of War Ragnarok.

It has now been reported by Forbes that the game has sold a huge 5.1 million copies in its first week, breaking The Last of Us Part II's record that stood for a couple of years, and passing over Marvel's Spider-Man, Uncharted 4 and its predecessor.

It's a big move for the game, but it's hardly surprising as the game sits comfortably with a score of 94 on MetaCritic and rave adoration from fans all over the internet.

But, even though God of War is smashing it right now, it hasn't squared up to the real titan of November.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Has Already Almost Doubled Ragnarok's Sales

It's not just Ragnarok making some serious bank - as Pokemon has sailed to the top of the charts.

According to Serebii, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet has sold over 10 million units in just a few days. At this time it has almost doubled the sales of Ragnarok, and will almost definitely be crossing that threshold when the week-long numbers are released.

It's a silly amount of sales and a silly amount of money, both for Nintendo and Santa Monica Studios. Thank goodness Kratos is back on top. Almost.
