"Pack your bag soldiers, we'll get them next time." - Task Force 141 Operator.

That's the spirit coming from the Call of Duty League camp this season, as a large majority of players, fans, and community figures are already writing off the competition this year due to Vanguard's unplayable state. Just 24 hours before the third year of the $250million league was set to unfold, Call of Duty: Vanguard has broken, and the devs now face a race against time to fix the game-breaking glitch.

After a pre-season filled with dubious glitches and unviable in-game settings, Activision threw in a last-minute Hail Mary save to have the season start on the front foot - or so they thought. In reality, their fix to some of the much-needed problems has only triggered more severe quirks, and now the CDL season is in jeopardy.

Game-Breaking Glitch Added To Call Of Duty Vanguard

Following a patch that was set to benefit the league - most prominently by fixing a Search and Destroy element where the in-game operator would tell players if a bomb was being planted or defused - the same glitches that have plagued Vanguard have now been corrected. However, much like when the Power Rangers destroyed the baddies, they've morphed into a colossal beast and returned to have their vengeance.

The "silent plant" has now become an in-game feature for SnD private matches, allowing the CDL to toggle the operator call-outs, but once the setting is switched off, the game will instantly crash if a player fires a bullet when someone else is planting or defusing.

CDL Season Jeopordised By Silent Plant Bug

With the first Call of Duty League game set to roll out on February 4, as the 3pm ET kickoff between London Royal Ravens and Florida Mutineers will get the ball rolling for both NA and EU fans, the league may have had to play with the setting enabled, which would subsequently jeopardise Search and Destroy by making the plant and defuse functions useless.

With the bug running rife, Gamebattles announced that all of their official games should revert back to silent-plant being disabled, whilst some more savvy CDL fans opted for a "doof doof" approach.

Sledgehammer Games did reveal that they have corrected the issue and silent-plant should now be fixed, although the professionals remain cautious that their season could get off to a rather interrupted start.
