We're back in action with Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 as Epic Games continues to make the most of its invigorated fanbase. As well as Season 4's Galactus event pulling the biggest numbers ever for a live Fortnite event, the season's endgame was also praised for helping propel the story into its future with the return of Agent Jonesy and another story-driven adventure for everyone to enjoy. Added to this, there's been the notable return of some major players thanks to the likes of Turner "Tfue" Tunney streaming again after a long absence.

Why Fortnite is having a sudden uptick in popularity is up for debate, but either way, there's plenty of new content to keep us coming back for more in Season 5. As well as the introduction of the Fortnite Crew subscription service and a new gold bar currency, we've seen Disney's The Mandalorian crossover into the map, new POIs added, and the tease of more skins on the way. One of the biggest changes was the addition of NPCs to the map, that will give players a unique string of quests to complete. If you want some time away from shooting up rivals, here's where you can find these elusive NPCs.

Fortnite Season 5 NPCs: Where are they?

Look out for NPCs in Season 5 because it turns out most of them are familiar faces from the game's part. As Agent Jonesy tries to track down characters escaping the reality loop, NPCs have their own tasks for you to undertake. You can reap the rewards of gold, weapons, or even the chance for an NPC to assist you in-battle to hopefully climb the leaderboard. If you're ready, here's where each NPC is hiding out.

  • 1. Lexa: Hunter’s Haven
  • 2. Reese: Dirty Docks
  • 3. Menace: Colossal Coliseum
  • 4. Mancake: Butter Barn
  • 5. Mave: Shipwreck Cove
  • 6. Kondor: Misty Meadows
  • 7. The Mandalorian: Razor Crest
  • 8. Reaper: Southwest of Sweaty Sands
  • 9. Brutus: Dirty Docks
  • 10. Deadfire: The Sheriff’s Office
  • 11. Triggerfish: Crashed Cargo, West of Sweaty Sands
  • 12. Bullseye: Steamy Stacks
  • 13. Bandolier: Flushed Building
  • 14. Longshot: Misty Meadows
  • 15. Splode: Lighthouse
  • 16. Blaze: Pristine Point
  • 17. Remedy: Hilltop House, Craggy Cliffs
  • 18. Big Chuggus: Slurpy Swamp
  • 19. Kyle: Weeping Woods
  • 20. Cole: Retail Row, Shipwreck Cove
  • 21. Ragnarok: Holly Hedges (Viking Vessel)
  • 22. Bushranger: Salty Towers
  • 23. Dummy: Pleasant Park
  • 24. Sparkplug: Lazy Lake
  • 25. Burnout: Steamy Stacks
  • 26. Turk: Lazy Lake
  • 27. Outcast: Sweaty Sands
  • 28. Rapscallion: Lazy Lake
  • 29. Sleuth: Sweaty Sands
  • 30. Grimbles: Fort Crumpet
  • 31. Sunflower: The Orchard
  • 32. Farmer Steel: Steem Farm, East of Colossal Coliseum
  • 33. Doggo: Pleasant Park
  • 34. Kit: Catty Corner
  • 35. Beef Boss: The Durr Burger Food Truck
  • 36. Tomato Head: The Pizza Pit
  • 37. Bunker Jonesy: Camp Cod
  • 38. Bigfoot: Weeping Woods
  • 39. Ruckus: Hydro 16
  • 40. Fishstick: Craggy Cliffs

Twitter user @meetlootllama also gets credit for adding all the NPCs to a handy map for you to check out. Note that some of the NPCs potentially have more than one spawn point. Added to this, Bigfoot is particularly hard to find - some players report that they've played 50 games and never come across that hidden hairy.

Fortnite Season 5 NPCs: How they're pushing the game forward

Epic Games Worldwide Creative Director Donald Mustard previously promised Season 5 would change Fortnite forever, while the introduction of these NPCs definitely lives up to that promise. While the general hub of the battle royale bloodbath will still be the biggest pull, it's refreshing that there are other things for players to do. Epic tried to get us all to go fishing, but safe to say, it wasn't an idea that really landed with most.

The addition of NPCs also echoes a familiar franchise that has its own legacy in the world of video games. It's surely no coincidence that Fortnite seems like it is homaging Fallout in Season 5. Considering the Fallout series is a goliath on its own and has become known as THE place to go for well-rounded NPCs, there was outrage when Fallout 76 originally rolled out in 2018 without NPCs. It was a decision Bethesda eventually did a U-turn on thanks to the introduction of NPCs with the Wastelanders update.

While Fortnite will always be known as a battle royale game, adding NPCs to Season 5 is a stroke of genius that proves developers are keen to reinvent and refresh instead of just sitting on their laurels and watching the V-Bucks roll in. Now you know where to find all the Fortnite Season 5 NPCs, why don't you track them down for yourselves?
