Final Fantasy 7's return to the spotlight wasn't exactly to everyone's taste. The original title is an all-time classic, so remaking the game for modern audiences was expected to be a gargantuan task either way.

The game's total combat overall and creative liberties with the narrative were deeply controversial among Final Fantasy fans upon launch, and that's even forgetting that the game only adapts the first half of the original title.

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a tetchy one in the community, but despite this, it has still managed to perform well. A month after the shaky PC launch of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, the mods are already flowing in - and some of them are… horrifying.

Does Final Fantasy's Ronald McDonald Mod Make It A Horror Game?

A mod for Final Fantasy 7's remake has made Sephiroth more terrifying than he ever was, by adorning him with the grim makeup of Ronald McDonald. If you're afraid of clowns, turn back now.

The mod is published to NexusMods and is officially called "Sephironald". It gives the iconic villain a fresh new look with white makeup, a new yellow, white and red outfit, and a slick new trim with his luminous red hair. It is genuinely horrifying, and truly amps up the horror of the game.

Importantly, it reminds you that, oh yeah, you're supposed to be petrified of Sephiroth. Well, now you can be!

Streamer Reacts To Sephironald

The horrors of Sephironald have been experienced first hand by Twitch streamer LouiseyHannah, who has shared a video on Twitter of her playthrough of the game with a litany of mods in effect.

The most memorable (obviously) is the menacing Sephironald, which naturally derails her stream with his distressing presence.

It's a bizarre mod, but one that will definitely do the trick if you're looking to spookify your game. If there's any one thing we can say about this mod, it's that we're most definitely not lovin' it.
