Fans are already disappointed with the new Fortnite sliding movement, despite the fact it's not even been released yet. Players are expecting an overhaul of the island with the upcoming Chapter 3 Season 1, but will Epic really borrow from its biggest rivals? Of course it will!

What Is The Fortnite Slide Mechanic?

Back in September, HYPEX confirmed that the Sliding movement was coming, and referenced the most recent update that included the movement type 'sliding' in the files. They added: "It will increase your FOV by 15 when you're sliding and it will make your camera shake, with a cooldown of 2 seconds. I don't know the release date or if it's gonna be an item!"

However, we've now seen the promo materials for the Fortnite sliding mechanic, with imagery showing characters sliding on their knees.

But not everything new is better, and fans have taken to HYPEX's replies to share their woeS regarding the new move.

What Have Fans Been Saying About The Fortnite Slide Mechanic?

Unsurprisingly, some people are less than thrilled. One person commented: "The game is getting worse more and more everyday". Another added: "Nahhh if they add a sliding mechanic the game will be sooooo weird".

"I genuinely do not want sliding in Fortnite man..idk why I hate the idea so much but I don’t want it", said another.

However, some people seem genuinely excited by the prospect, with one Twitter user saying: "Thinking about it, sliding is an entirely new, major gameplay mechanic. the last time we had something as game-changing as this was with the launch of chapter 2 with the ability to carry downed players we can probably expect sliding to be released with the launch of chapter 3".

Either way, we'll find out soon enough when a very different Fortnite makes its debut.
