We were all quite looking forward to playing the Marina Bay Grand Prix map during the Modern Warfare 2 beta. The developers boasted that the Singaporean Formula 1 circuit would appear as one of the maps we'd get to play on during the beta test, yet when we all loaded in, it was nowhere to be found.

So, what happened to it? Did the Modern Warfare 2 Marina Bay Grand Prix map get scrapped, despite pros and streamers getting to play it during the alpha tests?

Well, apparently not. It now appears that the Grand Prix map wasn't completely discarded, but was only swept away from the beta while legal issues unfolded. Racing over the finish line, it's still set to feature when the game launches next week.

Will The Marina Bay Grand Prix Map To Return To Modern Warfare 2?

Having been axed from the beta, leakers have now suggested that the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer map will still be arriving on our screens for October 28 - when the game is launched in full.

According to the leaker "TheGhostOfHope," Marina Bay Grand Prix will be available to play on Modern Warfare 2, and will serve as a 6v6 map in normal playlists and custom games.

The map has previously been favoured by professionals for game modes like Hardpoint, making it one of the most highly anticipated maps to come out.

Grand Prix Map Had 'Legal Issues' For Modern Warfare 2

Activision's legal department has been quite a busy bunch as of late. A recent huge-scale investigation into sexual misconduct within the company has certainly taken up the bulk of the lawyering, while multiple open probes into the Microsoft and Activision deal will have also ramped up the legal proceedings.

However, it appears that the reason that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was forced to axe the Marina Bay Grand Prix map from the beta was because of licensing and copyright issues. It all comes from depicting a real-life venue in the 2022 shooter.

The developers would likely have to liaise with both the Formula 1 bodies to avoid any sponsorships crossovers and the Singaporean government who own the track. Unlike the other ongoing legal battles though, it seems like Activision has been able to settle the Grand Prix map matter with ease, and we'll all be firing our way through the F1 circuit in no time.
