Ragnarok has come and gone, but that doesn't mean the story is over for the Ghost of Sparta. While the future of Sony Santa Monica's God of War remains up in the air, we're pretty sure it isn't going anywhere.

Given that God of War has been a staple of the Sony scene since 2005, it's gained a lot of celebrity fans. More than this, some big names have lent their vocals to the franchise.

Most recently, God of War Ragnarok recruited The West Wing's Richard Schiff as Odin and Sons of Anarchy's Ryan Hurst as Thor. Could David Harbour be the next megastar to flex his muscles against Kratos?

What Has David Harbour About God Of War?

Speaking to Video Games FN, David Harbour gushed about his love of all things GoW and teased his role in a mysterious horror game alongside Killing Eve's Jodie Comer.

"I really like what those guys in the God of War universe are doing with my buddy Richard Schiff as Odin," said Harbour. "They sort of mess around with that genre too, and they're always surprising in terms of these gods and they wind up becoming – Thor is a big old jerk and Odin being this kind of older intellectual."

He continued, "That universe and what Corey (Barlog) does is pretty fascinating. So I'd be interested in possibly doing some of that." While it's easy to imagine Harbour's vocals in the next God of War, there might be an even better idea.

Could Harbour Play Kratos In A Live-Action God Of War?

Forget starring in the inevitable Ragnarok sequel, what about playing the bearded brute in live-action? Aside from playing Jim Hopper in Stranger Things, Harbour has shown his brawn as Red Guardian in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Black Widow

Much like who'll play Wolverine in the MCU whoever lands the role of Kratos in Amazon's rumoured God of War series is sure to be the talk of the town. We can see Harbour wielding the Leviathan Axe if we were going to tell the Norse chapter of Kratos' story.

Big names like Jason Momoa and Nick Offerman are often floated around, while current Kratos voice actor, Christopher Judge, has also said he'd love to play Kratos in live-action. Harbour definitely has the daddy credentials to play an older and grizzled Kratos.

As the casting of Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in HBO's The Last of Us has shown us, video game fans are notoriously protective over who plays their favourites in live-action. So, could this Stranger Things legend really bring Kratos to life? And no, we don't mean Winona Ryder.
