Are you ready to meet Lord and Lady Moleman of the Mole Isles, or what about the Legend of the Dog-Face Woman? Good news, because they're here in FromSoftware's latest Elden Ring update. The above might be made up, but there's a suitably colossal Elden Ring update that adds a tonne of new NPCs and quests to the Lands Between.

While FromSoft definitely lived up to its own hype of being the biggest Souls-like of all time, that still isn't enough. As we continue to hack and slash our way through the various Godfreys Godwyns, and Godricks, most of us have only scratched the surface of this tormented tale. Still, that hasn't stopped the developer from rolling out a massive update for those who've managed to trigger the final credits.

What's Included In The Elden Ring Update?

With a game as big as Elden Ring, it's no surprise that even a small update reads like a massive scroll of changes. The biggest perk of the Elden Ring patch 1.03 is the ability to tag an NPC and their location directly to the map. Previously, we were left using nothing but our memory to remember where we'd seen that specific quest NPC.

Elsewhere, there are new quest phases for Diallos, Nepheli Loux, Kenneth Haight and Gatekeeper Gostoc. If they don't take your fancy, what about the new NPC called Jar-Bairn or some "some summonable NPCs in multiple situations"? Speaking of which, the devs have "fixed a bug that prevented summoned NPCs from taking damage in some boss battles." Damn!

Another major nerf is that the go-to Mimic Tear Ash finds its damage decreased and the behaviour pattern changed. Finally, there's new background music for parts of the Lands Between at night, general bug fixes, and balance changes. These changes should definitely come in handy for those of you trying to speedrun the game - which is now coming in at a baffling time of under 30 minutes.

Are More Updates On The Way To Elden Ring?

We'd imagine this is just the tip of a very large iceberg. You don't put this much time and effort into crafting a world like Elden Ring without having a hefty roadmap ahead. Remembering how Bethesda has kept Skyrim ticking along for the past 11 years, we're guessing FromSoftware has similar plans for Elden Ring. With an update like this so early on, how much longer until we get the first DLC?

It's possible that this latest dump of content was stuff that was cut from the original release for time constraints, but it's great to see the team is on things. Notably, it's looking great for Elden Ring right now. Just a few weeks after release, it's scored a massive 12 million copies sold. If that wasn't enough, Bandai Namco's CEO has promised the franchise will "expand" - which already has us looking toward a potential movie or TV series continuation.
