Christopher Judge Speaks Out Against Dave Bautista Playing Kratos In God Of War
Things are heating up in the icy tundra of the Nine Realms, as God of War actor Christopher Judge has seemingly thrown shade at the idea of Dave Bautista playing Kratos in a live-action series.
Although details are thin on the ground, we know Amazon is working on a live-action God of War, which will finally bring the Ghost of Sparta to life on the small screen.
Instead of being a straight-up retelling that follows Kratos through his Greek and Norse mythologies, the series will instead pick up with 2018's God of War - where Judge took over from T.C. Carson.
Christopher Judge Speaks Out Over Dave Bautista Casting?
There's no official casting for Amazon's God of War series, but at least we know things are moving forward with Wheel of Time's Rafe Judkins acting as showrunner, and a story written by Mark Fergus (Iron Man) and Hawk Ostby (Children of Men).
The show's casting is sure to be one of Hollywood's hottest, and just like Game of Thrones' Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal nabbing their roles as Ellie and Joel in HBO's The Last of Us, it'll likely divide fandom.
Still, there are plenty of calls for Judge to reprise his role in live-action. Even though the man himself is yet to officially throw his hat in the ring, Judge has seemingly made his feelings clear on who he DOESN'T want to play Kratos.
Posting on Twitter, Judge said, "Don’t get me wrong, I think @DaveBautista is great, but..." It comes in response to him sharing an article from ComicBook.com, stating Bautista "needs" to play Kratos. Here, Judge wrote, "And it's been said I can’t read a room."
Judge Fans want Him To Play Kratos In God Of War
Judge's tweet soon blew up, with plenty of support for him to make the move from video games to live-action. As we saw from The Game Awards, Judge definitely embodies the spirit of Kratos beyond just voicing him in the games.
"If you're not the one playing Kratos, I'm not watching," said one, while another added, "No way. Let him play a villain or side character. You ARE Kratos."
A third concluded, "Keep fighting for it and let everyone know who Kratos is. No one knows the character better than you, nuff said." Alongside this, there were repeated reminders that Bautista has been linked to Marcus Fenix in a live-action Gears of War.
Judge isn't alone in seemingly eyeing up God of War. So far, Atreus actor Sunny Suljić has demanded he play the role in live-action, also being echoed by Freya's Danielle Bisutti.
We'll admit that Sony has a pretty perfect cast already with the actors it hat, but whether they'll be back for more remains to be seen. Come on Judge, keep flexing those muscles.
