Rumours have been circulating in gaming spaces about Call of Duty's 2022 release even before Vanguard came out, and it's clear that fans are incredibly excited.

While Vanguard has been a treat for many, it's not enough to keep everyone happy, and as such, fans are choosing to look ahead to the future rather than engage with what's in front of us now.

As it turns out, the next game in the Call of Duty series could be a sequel to 2019's Modern Warfare reboot. With this in mind, it's likely it's going to be getting some classic returning maps.

Leaks Suggest 4 Returning Maps For Modern Warfare 2

A new rumour comes courtesy of ModernWarzone and suggests that the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 will feature returning maps from the series' history. Then again, it's a tradition at this point for Call of Duty.

The Twitter account claims that the four maps set to return are Favela, Terminal, High Rise, and Quarry. They are likely to make fans very happy indeed because these maps are some of the biggest that the franchise has ever seen. Better yet, they're likely to adopt new settings for their brand-new iterations.

What Do Fans Think About These New Map Remasters?

Fans have responded to the tweet suggesting that the next Call of Duty will be bringing back some of the franchise's best maps from the glory days, and a lot of them are very happy indeed.

However, it doesn't seem like everyone is so excited. There are the usual complaints that developers continue to make their coin on nostalgia factor alone - instead of bringing something new to the table.

Whichever side of the fence you occupy, it's no surprise that Call of Duty is relying on fan service here - they've been doing it for years. We know it's reductive, but to a certain degree, we don't mind. Just let us land some massive 720 quickscopes jumping from High Rise's scaffolding and we'll be there on day one.
