The legacy of Battlefield 2042 is a particularly muddy one. What was once believed to be a new dawn for first-person shooters has since become an absolute travesty to the poor suckers in the midst of it... and for gamers on the outside.

The game, AAA by every definition, is rife with bugs, glitches, hackers, and even features. There were plenty that simply didn't make the final Battlefield 2042, when by all rights, should have done. Players have long been asserting that they haven't been given what they were promised - and now they're pressing for full refunds.

The straw that will break the camel's back has been placed, as now Battlefield 2042 players are beginning to (very seriously this time) demand refunds for the game.

The call comes in the shape of a Change.org petition, calling on EA and DICE to reimburse players of the widely hated shooter - claiming that they were lied to about the actual contents of the game.

"EA's release of Battlefield 2042 was a mockery of every customer who purchased this video game for $70 (USD) due to EA's false advertising," the petition's description reads. "According to many consumer reports, Electronic Arts and DICE did not keep many promises made at launch, and Battlefield 2042 was launched as unplayable."

At the time of writing, the petition has now reached a huge 21,905 signatures and is well on its way to 25k. We knew a lot of you weren't happy, but we didn't realise it was this bad.

Should Battlefield 2042 Players Be Refunded?

This is a tough situation, as getting a refund for a game simply because a player doesn't like it isn't particularly fair on the game's developers - yet it's no surprise that long-term Battlefield fans are beginning to make demands of EA.

After all, they'd probably be able to afford it - but a mass refund would probably tank the Battlefield franchise at large due to its immensely disappointing launch. It's especially troublesome considering there are rumours it could go free-to-play.

Regardless of whether or not it's a good thing, players are taking a stand - and though it's unlikely EA are going to be handing out 21,000 lots of $70 any time soon, it seriously exemplifies the huge disappointment in Battlefield 2042. Poor thing.
