The 2022 League of Legends World Championship is upon us this month and now that the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) has crowned its champion, all of the seeds and teams have been locked in.

Following the finals of the 2022 LCS Championship, Riot Games went ahead and revealed the groups for the 2022 League of Legends World Championship.

As is customary, teams were grabbed from a number of pools and slotted into each group.

All Of The Groups And Teams For The 2022 LoL World Championship

The League of Legends World Championship 2022 Group Draw Show kicked off with the Play-in Stage draw. It placed 12 teams in the Play-in Stage and divided into two groups of six, Group A and B for the Play-in Stage of the World Championship.

Here are the Groups for the Play-in Stage:

Group A

  • Fnatic (LEC)
  • Beyond Gaming (PCS)
  • DetonatioN FocusMe (LJL)
  • Evil Geniuses (LCS)
  • LOUD (CBLOL)
  • Chiefs Esports Club (LCO)

Group B

  • DRX (LCK)
  • Royal Never Give Up (LPL)
  • Saigon Buffalo (VCS)
  • MAD Lions (LEC)
  • Istanbul Wild Cats (TCL)
  • Isurus (LLA)

Following the conclusion of the Play-in Stage draw, the Group Stage (Main Stage) groups were drawn.

Group A

  • Cloud9 (LCS)
  • T1 (LCK)
  • EDward Gaming (LPL)

Group B

  • JD Gaming (LPL)
  • G2 Esports (LEC)
  • DWG KIA (LCK)

Group C

  • Rogue (LEC)
  • Top Esports (LPL)
  • GAM Esports (VCS)

Group D

  • Gen.G (LCK)
  • CBTC Flying Oyster (PCS)
  • 100 Thieves (LCS)

2022 LoL World Championship Group Play Predictions

Teams like Fnatic and Evil Geniuses come in as favourites for the Play-In Stage. However, teams like DetonatioN FocusMe, who have surprised internationally in the past recently, and Beyond Gaming could very well play spoiler in Group A.

When it comes to Group B, competition becomes stiffer. You have the likes of reigning 2022 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) Champions Royal Never Give Up, Korea’s DRX, and Europe’s MAD Lions all vying for the final main stage spots.

When it comes to the Main Stage, Group A can be seen as the infamous “Group of Death.” You have Korea’s number two seed in T1, who was a stalwart dominant force for the first half of the season, the defending World Champions, EDward Gaming, and the newly crowned LCS first seed, Cloud9. From there, Group B is also hotly contested as you have three teams that each in their own respective regions were staples of the higher spots in the standings.

This puts Groups C and D as the weaker groups as although C has solid teams in Rogue and Top Esports, Group D might be looked at as a single-minded group with Gen.G as the clear frontrunner.
