Think you've got a Jett Bladestorm worthy of rivalling Tyson "TenZ" Ngo, but hindered in Gold due to your teammates? Well, that might be due to how densely populated your specific division is in VALORANT's rank distribution. Whether you're pushing to get through to the next division or wondering why you've been slapped with dog water teammates, our guide to the VALORANT rank distribution has everything you need to know.

VALORANT Rank Distribution Explained

The VALORANT rank distribution is all about how many people are placed within each division throughout the VALORANT ranked system. When heading into the Ranked mode, players will face placement matches to be seeded into a division of players at a similar ability, whether that be Iron 1 or Diamond 3, with Immortal being unachievable from the get-go.

VALORANT's rank distribution shows how many players are seeded into the ranks, and can act as a good indicator of how good you are at the game compared to others. There's no limit to how many people can sit at one specific rank, it rather acts as a way of showing how many people are of a similar skill to yourself.

After noticing that there were too many players populating higher ranks than what they should do, with the skill gap at the upper echelons proving to be wider than the difference down low, Riot Games targeted a much broader VALORANT rank distribution.

The desired VALORANT rank distribution from Riot Games is to have most of the talent stacked between Bronze 2 and Gold 3, with Silver being the most densely populated.

Current VALORANT Rank Distribution - Episode 5

According to esportstales, the current rank distribution is heavily weighted towards Silver and Gold, as Riot has intended it to be.

The current VALORANT rank distribution in Episode 5 (as of November 2022) has 42.7% of players in Silver or Gold, while a quite impressive 33.03% of players have achieved a higher rank than Gold. The full VALORANT rank distribution is as follows:

  • Iron: 6.8%
  • Bronze: 17%
  • Silver: 21.9%
  • Gold: 20.8%
  • Platinum: 16.3%
  • Diamond: 10.6%
  • Ascendant: 4.9%
  • Immortal: 1.2%
  • Radiant: 0.03%

At the beginning of VALORANT Episode 5, Riot added the Ascendant rank, while making it easier for players to move out of the lower ranks. This effort to bring the average player closer to the middle of the ranks seems to have worked, as there are far fewer players in Iron and Bronze, with the majority of players spread between the Bronze and Platinum ranks.
