Pokemon Scarlet And Violet DLC: What We Know So Far
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC may or may not be on the way, we cannot yet say for certain. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet represent the ninth generation of the mainline series, and the second on the Nintendo Switch. DLC is a relatively new thing for the Pokemon franchise, with only one previous example for us to base our speculation on. Here is everything we currently know about the potential of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC.

Pokemon Scarlet And Violet DLC: DLC History
As mentioned, there has only been one previous case of DLC in the mainline Pokemon series. Pokemon Sword and Shield had an expansion pass that included two downloadable expansions for the games. One example is not enough to guarantee it will happen again exactly as before, but it is all we have to go off of.
One thing we can say is that mainline Pokemon games have been consistently released in November for several years now. The expansions for Sword and Shield were announced in January of 2020, just two months after those games released. If the consistency is kept up, then we could be hearing about DLC for Scarlet and Violet very soon. We will just have to wait and see.
Whether we will get two expansions like the previous generation is impossible to say, but we can guess at the release window. The first expansion for Sword and Shield released in June of 2020, making a Summer release for any Scarlet and Violet expansion quite likely.

Pokemon Scarlet And Violet DLC: A Kalos Vacation
Although nothing has been confirmed about potential DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, there is a bit information we can work from. First of all, we might have an idea about where an expansion will take us. It seems unlikely that we will get access to the entire region, but many hints point to us taking a trip to the Kalos region from Pokemon X and Y.
The first and biggest hint is a geographical one. Most regions from Pokemon games are based on real-world locations. Paldea is based on Spain, and Kalos is based on France. Neither region fully covers the country they are based on, leaving potential for further exploration. The northeastern corner of Paldea features an inaccessible mountainous area, which coincides with where the border between Spain and France would be. This area is shown on the map despite being unavailable, making it a likely candidate for a future update.
There are plenty of Kalosian Pokemon in Paldea, with even more nods such as Roaring Moon, the Paradox Pokemon version of Salamence, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Roaring Moon, closely resembling the mega evolution that appears only in Pokemon X and Y. Furthermore, there are mentions of a strange "disc-shaped" Pokemon made of hexagonal plates in the Scarlet and Violet books. An existing Pokemon that quite neatly fits that bill is Zygarde, the legendary Pokemon from X and Y that could easily be related to the Paradox Pokemon.

Pokemon Scarlet And Violet DLC: Other Possibilities
Speaking of the Scarlet and Violet books, each of them features a strange Paradox Pokemon that does not currently appear in the game. In the Scarlet book, there is a sketch of a Pokemon that seems to combine the features of the Legendary Beast trio, Suicune, Entei and Raikou. Then in the Violet book, a similar sketch depicts a fusion of the Justice trio, those being Cobalion, Virizion, and Terrakion.
Each of these sketches comes with an entry about Paradox Pokemon, and says the image is an artist's interpretation of what the Pokemon of Area Zero might look like. It could just be that, but it seems like a lot of work for a design if they do not plan to use it.
The final nod to future DLC we have found is another similarity to Pokemon Sword and Shield. In both generations, completing some of the biggest challenges in the game will reward you with a Beast Ball. This Pokeball variation is practically useless, as they are only effective when used to catch Ultra Beasts.
In Sword and Shield, you could get this Beast Ball before the DLC launched, which introduced Ultra Beasts to the game. Completing the Pokedex in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet also rewards you with a Beast Ball, making it quite likely that the Ultra Beasts will make an appearance in the ninth generation.
