League of Legends is one of the most popular video games in the world. With millions and millions of players participating in the MOBA each, there are many matches being played.

Upon playing and finishing those matches, players earn a currency dubbed “Blue Essence.” Formerly known as Influence Points or “IP” for the longest time, it’s an alternative to Riot Points which players can purchase to unlock new content and more in League of Legends.

Here’s how to use Blue Essence in League Of Legends.

League Of Legends Blue Essence: How To Use

Like currencies in other video game titles, League of Legends players can use Blue Essence to purchase several cosmetic and non-cosmetic items. Apart from that, there are plenty of other ways players can use Blue Essence.

These include:

  • Buying new Champions through the Store or through shards
  • Buying Hextech Crafting champion shards
  • Buying Chromas for already-owned Skins
  • Buying Essence Emporium-exclusive cosmetics
  • Upgrading Champion Masteries
  • Buying Rune Pages

  • Need help earning Mythic Essence in League? Here’s how.

League Of Legends Blue Essence: How To Get

As previously mentioned, players can earn Blue Essence as they play matches in League of Legends, however, that’s not the only means to earn the currency.

Here are all of the options League players have when it comes to earning Blue Essence in League of Legends.

  • Levelling up
  • Opening level-up capsules
  • First Win of the Day
  • Completing Challenges
  • Participating in Events

It’s worth noting that Blue Essence cannot be purchased, unlike Riot Points. League of Legends players can only earn Blue Essence by playing the game.
