As with many games, you might be asking yourself, how long is God of War? With sequel God of War Ragnarök right around the corner, numerous PS4 and PS5 owners may be looking to revisit Sony Santa Monica's critically acclaimed 2018 title before playing the next game. What's more, since the launch of the 1.35 patch, God of War looks better than ever running at 60FPS and 4K resolution on PS5. Along with those who bought God of War on PC via Steam back in January 2022, there might even be PlayStation fans who are only just now playing the game for the first time. So, for players old and new, here is how long it takes to beat God of War.

If you're only looking to experience the main story of Kratos and Atreus' journey to the mountain, God of War is as long as 21 to 22 hours on average. However, for those aiming to earn all of the Steam achievements and PlayStation's Platinum trophy, there are numerous side quests and collectables. The most time-consuming of the latter will be Odin's Ravens, 51 of which are scattered across the game's various realms to find.

Side quests, listed as "Favors" include missions assisting your dwarven friends Brok and Sindri, helping out some dragons, and taking on the nefariously brutal Valkyries. If you only wish to casually dabble outside of the campaign whilst exploring the gorgeous in-game world, God of War can take you 30-40 hours to beat. For any 100% completionists, you'll need as long as 51-53 hours altogether.

Although the God of War Ragnarök release date is coming soon to PlayStation consoles, the 2018 game's minimal completion time certainly makes for a manageable playthrough all in all. That's everything you need to know, courtesy of our "how long is God of War?" guide.
