Which characters use Onikabuto in Genshin Impact?
There are a select few characters that need to use Onikabuto in Genshin Impact. At the time of writing, they include the detective Shikanoin Heizou and the abs king Arataki Itto. To fully ascend them, you’ll need 168 of the insect each alongside 46 Runic Fangs for Heizou and 46 Riftborn Regalia for Itto among other materials.

Where to find Onikabuto in Genshin Impact
Click to enlargeYou can find Onikabuto in the northeast region of Narukami Island in Inazuma. The flowers that have been placed on the map in the picture below are the locations of where the Onikabuto are at.
You won’t be able to access Inazuma unless you’ll need to finish the story up to The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia archon quest and getting to Adventurer Rank 30.
They’re purple beetle-like creatures that stay on trees, walls, and caverns. Thankfully, you won’t have to attack them or do any other tactic to pick them up. You simply walk towards them and grab each Onikabuto. They’re pretty easy to spot, even at night as the purple shade is lighter.
Click to enlargeTo best optimize your grind for the Onikabuto, we suggest running around Mt. Yougou and Grand Narukami Shrine as they’re close together. In order to make this process faster, find the teleport stone northwest of Mt. Yougou. There’s also one that’s south of the Grand Narukami Shrine that’s a slight detour off the main stairway. Go right when you see a dog statue and just before the red gate in front of you. You’ll find a portal for the End of the Oneiric Euthymia, which can act as a travel point.

If you’ve forgotten how to ascend characters, don’t worry. Go to the main menu with the ESC key or Options button on a PlayStation controller. Then, go to “Character.” You should see your selected hero pop up on the screen.
On the left, you’ll find a list of options to help you customize the battler but the thing you want to focus on is the bottom right. It says “Ascend.” Click that white tab and you’ll be in the correct area.
