Forza Horizon 5 tips are essential to conquer the roads of Mexico in this massive multiplayer racing experience. Forza Horizon 5 features an enormous map, a bunch of collectibles and plenty of ways to level up. However, sometimes it can take a while to settle into this new setting, especially if you are a newcomer to the franchise. To ease the pressure here are our Forza Horizon 5 tips that you should know before jumping into this racing sequel.

Forza Horizon 5 Tips: Follow The Guide

One of the easiest Forza Horizon 5 tips to ignore is following the track guide. These blue, amber and red arrows are a staple of almost every racing experience, and as such become an afterthought for many drivers. However, we are here to tell you that the guide can be crucial to getting a grip on the game’s driving mechanics.

It’s hard to resist slamming down on the accelerator when the guide is telling you to slow down. However, a majority of the time it will end with you ramming against walls in the turns, which lead to a loss of your combo-multiplier. Instead easing off the throttle helps for a smoother turn, and can even be a good indicator of when to initiate a drift. This might seem like one of the most obvious Forza Horizon 5 tips but it really impacts every race you take part in.

Forza Horizon 5 Tips: Don’t Forget Speed Challenges

To unlock the full breadth of content Forza Horizon 5 has to offer, you need accolade points, which are earned from each race you take part in. However, another way to earn these points are through the various speed challenges that dot around the map. Just one star on a speed zone, speed trap or danger sign will give you 100 accolade points, and while they might not be worth seeking out exclusively, you should work them into your routes as you head from race to race. And considering fast travel costs a 9200 credit points a pop, you’ll be driving past plenty of these, making this Forza Horizon 5 tip a two birds one stone kind of scenario.

Forza Horizon 5 Tips: Going Off Road Is A Great Points Builder

This Forza Horizon 5 tip is one of the quickest ways to upgrade your favourite sets of wheels. Accumulating skill points through the likes of drifting, smashing through fences and getting massive air time, allows you to increase point multipliers and can even save your combo after hitting a solid object. Naturally, you will build up points as you race your way through the game, but if you want to make some serious points, then take your vehicle off the road.

The open desert areas to the west of the map are far more open and filled with plenty of cacti to smash through. By simply speeding through these areas, you will naturally build up drift, wreck and air multipliers, and after a few minutes you could easily be looking at hundreds of thousands of points. Even better is when a Skill Song begins to play, which allows your multiplier to extend beyond five to ten. However, watch out for solid rock structures as they can completely spoil the fun.

Forza Horizon 5 Tips: Remember To Upgrade Your Car

This Forza Horizon 5 tip is all about the upgrades. Despite featuring a multitude of cars, you’ll likely find that you’ll stick for a while pretty early on. However, that doesn’t mean it can’t get better. Going back to any one of your homes will allow you to access the upgrades menu, which is integral to allowing your car to compete competitively as you level up.

Upgrades have two options: manual upgrade or auto upgrade. Manual upgrade allows you to finely tune your ride to fit your purpose, whether it be road racing or off road and so on. For those that aren’t too bothered digging into the nitty gritty of car stars, the auto upgrade options allows you to immediately choose which class and rating you can upgrade your car to. Considering the amount of cars the game throws at you, upgrading is one of the easily overlooked Forza Horizon 5 tips.

Forza Horizon 5 Tips: Auction Off Cars

Money is the name of the game in this Forza Horizon 5 tip. Credits aren’t particularly hard to come by, but as you set your eyes on homes with two million credit price tags, you might need to save up a little. Lucky wheelspins and completing races are great ways to wrack up cash, however, an often forgotten method is selling off your unwanted cars.

However, another way to rake in some pennies is by auctioning off your cars. Since this is an auction system, you can’t just sell off any old rubbish, as there has to be an actual player on the other end willing to spend their credits on it too. This means that mission earned cars are a no-go as most players already have them. However, by pairing up previous Forza Horizon 5 tips, and upgrading your car, it can become an incredibly enticing offer, and you can even make some profit if the auction goes well.

Forza Horizon 5 Tips: Buy Cars At Auction

On the complete flip side of the previous Forza Horizon 5 tip, auctions can be a great way to bypass a lot of the grinding involved in getting high-class vehicles. Searching through the auctions you can immediately pick out the kind of vehicles you need, including their class rating. Auctions are real time events too, so bidding to start you can pick up vehicles for half price if you are lucky. Or if you are feeling inpatient, you can also just buy a vehicle out for its intended price without having to wait for an auction’s end. Check back in on auctions daily as well, as new cars will be uploaded everyday. You can even scoop up cars that might have been looked off to the Gold Edition of the game.

Forza Horizon 5 Tips: Use Photo Mode

The latest of the Forza Horizon 5 tips will have you snapping beautiful shots, taking in all that the game’s Mexico setting has to offer. However, it isn’t just the scenic views that make for a good reason to use Photo Mode. Photo mode also has its own tracking system, which rewards you for snapping up more pics of cars. In this case, using Photo Mode at the start of any race, you will gain an additional 11 vehicles on top of your own. This approach will earn you even more accolade points.

Forza Horizon 5 Tips: Experiment With The Settings

The latest of the Forza Horizon 5 tips is all about making this driving experience to your liking. While the default settings in Forza Horizon 5 are fun, they are heavily customisable, meaning you can find a driving experience more attuned to your preferences. We’d highly recommend experimenting as options like manual gear shifting or manual braking can really change how you drive. Taking off the training wheels in settings also boost up your credit boosting.

Fast Travel is enabled in Forza Horizon 5, however it is locked to set locations, such as homes and festival hubs. However, sometimes you want to get to an exact spot in a rush, and this Forza Horizon 5 tip will help you do just that. Buying the Beunas Vistas home, which is located on the west coast of the map will unlock fast travel to any spot on the map. That means you can select exact roads to save you time when you want to get right into the action.

However, Buenas Vistas house will set you back two million credits, and each time you fast travel a further 9200, so it's not a cheap feature. Nonetheless, it gives you the option when the need arises. If you are looking to scoop up more in the property market, check out our guide to the Forza Horizon 5 properties.

Last up in our Forza Horizon 5 tips we have the checkpoint flags, which can be the root of a lot of pain during crucial races. Missing a checkpoint can set you back immensely, especially on PvP races. However, they aren’t as specific a space that you must drive through as you once thought. Instead, by simply clipping the flag, even if that is just with the back of your car, it will still counts and you can move onto to the next checkpoint.
