Microsoft's hour-long virtual event showcased some of the best new titles coming to the Xbox Series X console. The Xbox Games Showcase featured not only Halo Infinite, but a clutch of new games, footage, and sneak peeks - ten world premieres, and 22 console launch exclusives, to be exact.

Microsoft confirmed that the showcase would only focus on games, so don't expect any hardware info or prices.

Take a look at the best bits of the Xbox Games Showcase below.

Halo Infinite

Halo Infinite

Xbox Game Studios invites you to become infinite.

It all means nothing – until you step inside

Microsoft treated us to an extended trailer, taking place on the 28th of May, 2560 - "167 days after we lost."  An adrenaline-fuelled trailer showed a pilot making an emergency landing, only to be awoken by Master Chief.

Here we learned you must stop The Banished, but are outgunned and outnumbered. The trailer meshed seamlessly into Campaign gameplay – where we saw those familiar Halo landscapes, vehicles and guns. Not only this, but we also got to see a Warthog drive over rolling hills. We also caught a glimpse of the UI, including the map, which looks way more sophisticated than any previous Halo title.

State of Decay 3

State of Decay 3

The trailer opened with a female character whittling, who screamed when she notices a presence in the woods beyond. Fast forward to a snowy landscape and a crossbow and a rickety log bridge, the (assumed) protagonist followed the signs of blood in the snow. The hunt begins. She comes across a deer.... eating a wolf. That ain't right.

The survival series is sure to bring more intrigue and bloodshed in its third iteration.

Jack Black provides the soundtrack to this epically cute space adventure.  A veritable kaleidoscope of colour and endearing style in a trippy universe. The platformer-meets-adventure game is receiving a long-awaited sequel, given the first game was released way back in 2005.
