As the cleverly crafted Ubisoft and Naughty Dog universes continue to grow, the two have come crashing together in a big way. Now, a developer who worked on Uncharted 4: A Thief's End has confirmed there's a hidden Assassin's Creed Easter egg hiding in 2016's action-adventure game. We're no stranger to both developers tying their own games together through clever Easter eggs - teasing that everything is connected in a big way. Just like Sam Fisher's Splinter Cell goggles appearing in Assassin's Creed Odyssey or Nathan Drake playing Crash Bandicoot on the PlayStation in Uncharted 4, there's a new Easter egg that players can hunt for.

Although modern movies have become littered with Easter eggs, the first-ever recording of one being used was in a video game. All the way back in 1980, Atari's Adventure hid the names of the game's developers in a secret part of the game. Since then, Easter eggs have become commonplace in video games and frequently pop up in both Naughty Dog and Ubisoft games. Both developers have award-winning titles under their belts and are two of the biggest studios out there. It might seem a little strange to reference the competition, but in classic Naughty Dog style, the devs had a bit of fun.

What is the Assassin's Creed Easter egg in Uncharted?

Animator and author Jonathan Cooper has worked on the likes of Mass EffectAssassin's Creed, and The Last of Us, meaning he's worked with pretty much everyone on everything. Posting on Twitter, Cooper showed off an Uncharted 4 Easter egg that he thinks most players would've missed. When playing the game, there's a scene where Nathan Drake climbs to the top of a clock tower. If gamers don't touch their controller for a few seconds, the game slips into the signature synchronisation mode from the Assassin's Creed games.

Sharing the moment on Twitter, casual players and industry experts alike loved the reveal. One happy player wrote, "I climbed that tower just to feel like Desmond and discovered this, it was a beautiful moment. Thank you". Another chimed in saying, "I found that one when I was trying to get more trophies! I really liked it and thought it was breathtaking and really great! Thank you for adding it!". A few claimed to have discovered it back in the day but hadn't understood the reference to Assassin's Creed

Are there more Assassin's Creed Easter eggs in Uncharted?

Cooper explained that this isn't the only AC sync out there in the Uncharted games. He also reminded us of the previously discovered synchronisation that popped up in 2017's Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. When Chloe Frazer climbs to the top of a temple, she performs a yoga move and the camera pans to give a beautiful view across the jungle. Most of us had read all about The Lost Legacy one, but we've got to admit, the Uncharted 4 one is a new one to us. If there's ever another Uncharted game (come on guys), we'll be sure to climb every structure and let our controllers go idle to see if anything happens.

Game designer Jan Willem Nijman asked developers to share their best Easter eggs to celebrate Easter Sunday. It led to reveals of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in The Division, a Pac-Man level in Wolfenstein 3D, and the Spider-Man 2 "Pizza Time" song from Sam Raimi's movie being littered around New York City in Insomniac's Spider-Man. It turned out to be a treasure trove of Easter eggs that we'd never expected. So, it isn't just the Marvel Cinematic Universe that has a monopoly on Easter eggs.

While the Assassin's Creed games are looking ahead at what comes after Valhalla, things have gone a little quiet on the Naughty Dog front. Boss Neil Druckmann has teased "multiple" projects on the horizon, so whenever Naughty Dog's next game comes out, you can bet we'll have a "cracking" time unearthing all the Easter eggs.
