Twitch Has Suspended Advertising On Amouranth's Channel

Twitch has recently been dominated by a brand-new craze, labelled the "hot tub meta", which has popular streamers whizzing their kit off down to their trunks and entertaining spectators through splashing content.

With some concerns about the over-sexualisation of these streams, something that Twitch has had a long history combating, it appears the platform has targetted one of the largest hot tub streamers with an advertisement ban.

Twitch suspended Kaitlyn "Amouranth" Siragusa from making money through advertisements, one of the main forms of revenue for her channel.

Why Was Amouranth's Channel Banned From Advertising?

Despite the suspension from ad revenue, no clear definition has been handed to the streamer. However, it does appear that Twitch's decision is a part of their crackdown on the hot tub meta, with Amouranth being the scapegoat.

Taking to Twitter, she said: "This is an ALARMING precedent and serves as a stark warning that although the content may not ostensibly break community guidelines or Terms of Service, Twitch has complete discretion to target individual channels & partially or wholly demonetized them for content that is deemed “not advertiser-friendly", something that there is no communicated guideline for. This leaves open-ended the question of where the line is drawn.

Can Amouranth Still Monetise on Twitch?

Despite the suspension of her advertisements, Amouranth has thought of different ways of monetising her channel. With the usual subscription fee still going in her favour, Amouranth has now opted to ramp up her subscription count for the month through a range of games and rewards for new subs.

Her more advanced donations and subscriptions will result in either a follow back on Twitter or Instagram, or a Sharpie etching of their online alias printed on Amouranth's body. As of writing, Amournath has rocked up another 450 subs today, to add to her total of 21,000.

With each sub valued at $5, the lack of ad revenue won't exactly have her munching on the inflatable bananas any time soon.
