While we remain bound in Helgen - waiting for news on The Elder Scrolls 6 - rest assured that there's still plenty to come from Tamriel. Much like how Rockstar Games has continued to milk GTA Online ahead of GTA 6's eventual release, Bethesda is keeping us busy with The Elder Scrolls Online

The Elder Scrolls Online has remained popular since its release in 2014, and although we love the MMORPG, it's never really stacked up to the success of Skyrim. Still, its massive player base is dying to know what's coming in 2022. It turns out, it's a lot.

What's Coming To The Elder Scrolls Online In 2022?

Roadmapping what's to come in 2022, there's a glossy cinematic trailer to show off The Elder Scrolls Online's upcoming dump of content. Later this month, we're promised ESO will reveal "a brand-new Elder Scrolls adventure." This includes a whole new world that we've never seen before in the franchise.

Remember that the Blackwood and Greymoor updates took The Elder Scrolls Online to familiar locales from Oblivion and Skyrim, while the very first revamp captured the spirit of Morrowind's Vvardenfell. Excitedly, we're breaking with tradition and exploring somewhere that's never been visited in the franchise's 28-year history.

Hyping what's to come, ZeniMax Media said, "Across a vast sea awaits 2022's newest adventure for The Elder Scrolls Online. The coming year will satisfy a desire of Elder Scrolls fans everywhere by introducing a never-before-seen world and a tale that has yet to be told."

When Is The Elder Scrolls Online Update Coming?

Although the trailer doesn't give us any more details on this mythical locale, there is a breadcrumb trail of hints to keep us hunting for the next few weeks. Putting on our thinking helmets, players have noted that the armour at the 43-second mark nods toward the Bretons from High Rock.

There's also a chance of some nautical warfare thanks to the official Xbox Twitter replying with a mention of being "seasick". Others have suggested Almer's home of the Summerset Isles, but either way, we're guessing you'll need your sea legs.

The most popular choice right now comes from eagle-eyed Dragonborn noted that the ships seem to be sailing toward the destroyed continent of Yokuda.

Basically, there's a lot to keep us busy until the ESO update. There's supposed to be an official reveal on Bethesda's Twitch channel on January 27 at 12 pm PT, so now could be a good time to unroll your map of Nirn and look further than Tamriel for our next adventure.
