TenZ Completes First-Ever Million Dollar VALORANT Transfer

VALORANT superstar Tyson "TenZ" Ngo has officially completed his transfer to Sentinels from Cloud9, for a groundbreaking seven-figure deal.

The Canadian-Vietnamese 20-year-old was initially on loan at the organisation after Sentinels were forced to find a replacement for the suspended Jay "Sinatraa" Won. 

Sentinels and TenZ became the first-ever world champions in VALORANT, following a flawless run in the Champions Tour Stage 2 Masters in Reykjavik, where they toppled a resurgent Fnatic side 3-0 in the grand finals.

Sentinels Confirm TenZ's Transfer

Just days after and Sentinels confirmed that TenZ is "here to stay."

TenZ himself was openly vocal about wanting to stay at Sentinels. Talking after lifting the VCT Stage 2 trophy, he said "This team is honestly so amazing. I have fun with them. I can trust all of them. I don't know, they are just the best team there's ever had. And, really like, I would stay if I could, and I really hope I could? So, I am praying!"

Now, TenZ is set to stay at Sentinels for the foreseeable future, in a bid to add more trophies to their early supremacy on the game.

Cloud9 CEO, Jack Etienne, also confirmed that the deal was completed prior to their recent ventures to Iceland. Although TenZ was not told in hope that his mentality would persist. 

Taking to Reddit, Etienne said "This deal was done before Iceland. It was a dangerous deal for us as we knew we would soon face Sentinels in the Iceland Qualifiers, however, it was important to Tyson to play, and I wanted to make it happen for him."

"They let him know as soon as the event in Iceland was over. The team was playing very well and Sentinels wanted to ensure nothing impacted that during the event."

How Much Did TenZ Cost Sentinels?

The deal to pry TenZ away from Cloud9 is reported to be a whopping $1.25million. The Esports Observer reported that Cloud9 originally wanted $2million for the star, but settled on an original fee of $250,000 for the loan period.

After seeing how happy TenZ was at his new team, Cloud9 lowered the asking price to a further $1million, to which Sentinels have now agreed.

The deal is the first transfer fee to surpass $1miilion in VALORANT's history, with TenZ often labelled as the best player on the game.

Sentinels and TenZ will now focus on conquering Berlin, as the qualification for the second international event looms.
